I think the peppermint green one might be interesting 😉...but yes the “moderns” are dreary. (Re the “British” thoughts I think the chrome horn ring and “E-Z-Eye” heavy-tinted glass had me thinking Caddy too - quick work Stuart)

I think an FB or FC model which was an Australian adaptation of the then current Opel but fitted with the ubiquitous Holden "grey motor". 1

The fin looks a tiny bit too long from the distance but it should be the Holden version of the Opel Rekord P2 Caravan (1960-1963). The coachwork of Holden was a bit different to Opel in that era. stuny Posted February 10, 2021 Share #14644 Posted February 10, 2021 Thank you, Hektor. The gentle "fold" between the main body and what's above it of would lead up to the overwrought tail fin (slightly worse on the '59 than on the '60) is what gave me the marque and vintage. Being two doors, the model had to be a Coupe deVille. One of my friends from the time we were about 14 was the son of the lead attorney for a mafia crime family. Every late September his father would trade-in for a new Cadillac, taking delivery the day they were released. Hence, I got to know Caddies better than I needed to. The friend was also the first of our peers to lose his virginity, on the clear plastic covered sofa of his aunt's with his first cousin living across the street. For his 17th birthday he asked his father for a Pontiac Gran Prix coupe, mainly because the leather on the back seat would wipe off easily. At this point you'd be correct in surmising that none of us were willing to shake his hand. He eventually became a proctologist, but none of us would be likely to let him touch us. Let's try this one, a bit less obscure than most of the recent puzzle cars. Welcome, dear visitor! NigelG Posted February 11, 2021 Share #14648 Posted February 11, 2021 I think if you mean “a head full of car trivia and an Architect’s very strong visual/graphic memory” then guilty as charged 😉 I don’t think it’s a current model in one of the special anniversary colourschemes - Not sure I can recall that one... Is it a production special edition or simply a special custom paint version?

stuny Posted February 11, 2021 Share #14654 Posted February 11, 2021 Hmmm. Time to broaden the crop some. This would be a pretty good car for a crime since witnesses on one side would think the car was white, and those on the other side would think it was blue. As you can guess from its shape it could outrun a lot of police cars. Welcome, dear visitor! wlaidlaw Posted February 11, 2021 Share #14655 Posted February 11, 2021 You would have to be colour blind to do this to a lovely car like this (I recognise the headlights). This is the one from the NY showroom I think - shock value. Wilson
NigelG Posted February 12, 2021 Share #14656 Posted February 12, 2021 Now we can properly see the bonnet vents I think it’s an 812 Superfast. I’m finding it increasingly hard to keep up with the models designations now...except for the Roma (the first Ferrari I would actually want to own since the 612 Scaglietti)

stuny Posted February 12, 2021 Share #14659 Posted February 12, 2021 Yes, Nigel named it (I kept the bonnet vents and headlight edges out of the 1st crop since they are giveaways) though it seems certain that Wilson and Ronald know it. I too find the Roma enchanting. Nigel's turn Welcome, dear visitor!
