Philip, that could be interesting!

I spent an hour in a car repair on the Black Isle which was a converted church. The work bench was were the altar once was. I could understand the mechanic. I also spent some hours with my Leica MP shooting a weaver in Luskentyre on Harris, we had "nearly" no communication problems 😉

I've heard tale that the Island Whiskies do bestow that power on those who have been blessed with "The Gift"!....

Often for Islanders, English was their second language, learnt at school and from the radio. Their English is often very correct. My grandmother's prime language was Gaelic. She was born and brought up in Appin on Loch Linne in the west of Scotland. She died in 1935 so I never knew her but apparently spoke English like a 1920's BBC radio announcer (received pronunciation). When she moved to north east Scotland, having married my grandfather, she was appointed head teacher of a local primary school. She struggled to understand some of the local boys speaking in the Buchan (Doric) dialect .

Yes, Lotus showing front screen, roof-line and open tailgate. I'm not too familiar with the Esprit nor the Eclat but suspect Nigel is spot-on with his answer.

Nice, confusing shot, Andreas!

As far as East Coast Scots is concerned my maternal grandparents were both from the Aberdeenshire countryside and their language / vocabulary - whilst Scots-English and not Gaelic - wasn't very far removed from that used by some Scots in the latter half of the 1700's. Consequently the majority of Burns' poetry is crystal clear to me!

The Type 109 Lotus Mugen Honda was the last true Lotus F1 one car, as the team went into receivership at the end 1994. I went to the auction at Hethel early the next year and picked up an unused carbon fibre two plane rear wing, still all wrapped in tissue paper, for £65, to use on my Ralt F2 hill climb car.

I think we’re looking at a car in a colour called “Norfolk Mustard” but the angle is very confusing...

Possibly a 74 Lotus Elite?

Yes, a Lotus. I knew I should have posted it in b/w.

Not an Elite though.
