Advertisement Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 Hi a.j.z, Take a look here Name this car..... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wlaidlaw Posted January 21, 2021 Share #14422 Posted January 21, 2021 Stuart, My brother had a Taycan Turbo S on loan from the New Forest Porsche dealer, with a view to buying it. Like you he thought it was a great car. He drove it up to London about 100 miles but needed to charge it to get back down to the New Forest. Every charger he went to was either occupied, broken or not talking to his phone, even after he signed up with Chargemaster and loaded his account with some cash. He gave up in the end, dropped the keys in at a west end dealer and took the train down again. This was very similar to the experience I had when I first bought my Panamera Hybrid and purchased a type 2 public charging cable. After a month, I put that cable on eBay and just charge at home every night now, where I have a 7.2 KW/h charger. At the moment the infrastructure in the UK is marginal for running a pure electric car, unless you do a set route every day and have both home and work charging. Currently (apologies!) a plug-in hybrid is the sensible option. My wife is in the market for a PHEV to replace her Abarth 695 but all the smaller ones are a bit lethargic for her taste and she does not want a truck/SUV. I think the Audi A3-S Etron PHEV might be the choice. Wilson
stuny Posted January 22, 2021 Share #14423 Posted January 22, 2021 Wilson - The Taycan remarks were from my Avanti owning friend. His daily driver is a Audi R8, and his wife's is a Panamera. In teh US VW agreed to building a network of Chargemasters throughout. An article in the current Car and Driver echoes your concerns -- Perhaps this will be acceptable in a few months. In the near-term the PHEV is the only sensible solution for us, too. We've not seen the A3-S Etron here yet - Only the SUVs which we detest. Maybe in a few months. stuny Posted January 22, 2021 Share #14424 Posted January 22, 2021 Andreas - Between the crest of some sort, the color of the glass suggesting bullet resistance, and the overall feel of a high end large car, let's start with European, car used by an exceptionally high ranking member of state in Europe - Probably by one of the countries with a constitutional monarchy. Yes, Europe. It may also have been used by some high ranking person but not necessarily.

EDIT: Stuart, I need to correct myself. This is in the cab cue front of the InterContinental London Park Lane and I thought it was some limousine service. However, looking for the numer plate I now found the following on Wikpedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Mews "The Royal Mews is a mews, or collection of equestrian stables, of the British Royal Family. In London these stables and stable-hands quarters have occupied two main sites in turn: the north side of Charing Cross and since the 1820s, to make way for Trafalgar Square, part of the grounds of Buckingham Palace. The site has display royal carriages and motor vehicles. It is open to the public for much of the year. " "Semi-state cars[edit] Used for less formal occasions and as support vehicles: Two 2012 Jaguar XJ limousines (number plates NGN 1 and NGN 2). Three c. 1992 Daimler DS420 limousines (number plates KLL1, K326EHV and F728OUL)." Btw: I am always impressed that the drivers of the black cabs find their way without navigation system in this huge city (in particular as in the old parts the street numbers are not in the right order). Once, when I told the driver the target address, he asked when I need to be there and then recommended the tube as he could not make it in time (it is rather unlikely that this would happen to you in Vienna ;-)).
