2010 Aston Martin Rapide

dunk

That is the correct answer...............can't figure out foir the life of me how you were able to determine make, model and year by the meager detail contained in the photo I posted, but in any event -Well done, Dunk.

Shot at the unfortunately discontinued Marin Concours d'Elegance at the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Marin Civic Center in 2011, this was the first Rapide sedan in California.

An extremely attractive car, but later that day, the dealer who had brought the car to display before publicly presenting it to his wife as her anniversary present gave several friends a short drive in it. Typically Aston-Martin, it was a very refined, fast and solid car, but woefully uncomfortable, especially in the backseat and entirely unsuitable as a useful four-door, four-seater road car...............except maybe for relatively short trips with a pair of well behaved young children to their private school

Here's the next puzzler which is powered by a 2 stroke engine. The car was allegedly made to satisfy a company director's wife's need for 'something easier to park'. The designer created the shape by allegedly sitting on the engine whilst an assistant drew an outline encompassing him and the power plant. Relatively few were manufactured but it was developed into three models the third being capable of almost 70mph

If you know the make you'll know the year of manufacture too.

Good luck

Correct Hektor and well done.  This example has been nicely restored and received lots of compliments at the recent Maxey Classic Car and Bike Show near Peterborough UK.

An interesting microcar powered by a singe cylinder Villiers 197cc two stroke engine.

Your turn Hektor.

Hi Dunk,

Interesting one.

Jeremy Clarkson would have loved it.

What are you doing awake at 0300?

Sorry everyone.  Try this one, and don't be put off by the seat belts.  The car is from the fifties:

It is a "one off" of sorts.  It was number three in a series which began in 1955. I was mistaken when saying it was from the fifties.  In fact it was made in 1991 but a continuation of the aforesaid series.  All were exhibited at Pebble Beach in 1992.

Not Italian.  Built in California on a Japanese floorpan.  Its predecessors were on Italian platforms.

I suspect some details were sourced from Italy, such as the side lights common to the 105 series Alfa Romeo.

Thank you Hektor … that was a puzzle to identify but the seat belt logo helped

What an odd basis to use to put all that work into. As the Irish say, if you want to get there, you shouldn't be starting from here. I suppose Jim Simpson trawled round all the manufactures look for the donation of a floor pan and mechanicals and Mazda were the only folks who bit. It could have been worse and been the Korean version of the 929, the Kia Potentia, used as executive taxis in Korea in the 1990's.

We got driven from Halong Bay in Vietnam to Hanoi, about a 4 hour trip through singularly unattractive country, mostly coal mining, in an elderly Kia Potentia, that had done over 400,000 km. I don't know how bad it was new but 15 years as a taxi in Korea and Vietnam had not improved it any. Shock absorbers were obviously an optional extra. That will teach me to complain. We had done the outward trip in a small Nissan Micra and I phoned the travel company to say I did not want any more cars with no rear legroom, where we had to have our hand luggage on our knees but forgot to mention we would like suspension.
