Here is the next one.

Can anyone identify the car from which this bonnet originate.

There is a clue in a recent issue of Octane.

That is the 55 bhp 327.  There was 327/28 with the 80 bhp engine from the 328.  It can be identified by the louvres under the windscreen.

They are very tuneable as well. We are getting close to 140HP from our 328 and around 80-85HP from our 1936 319 rally car. Admittedly there is a lot of Bristol content in the 328 engine but since it has been like that since it was raced by Lady Betty Haig in the 1940's, it is accepted by the FIA.

The story of the Eisenacher Motorenwerk which produced EMW/BMW models, including the 327, is an interesting one. BMW had acquired the Eisenach factory in 1928 and it was used to produce BMW models.

The EMW company even competed in the 1953 German Grand Prix. As the factory was in the Soviet bloc, BMW could not bring proceedings over the production of some of its models after WWII. Production of BMW based models ceased in 1955 and in 1956 the Wartburg was introduced by the factory at Eisenach. It is an interesting side story about how BMW was affected by the division of Germany after WWII.

Further to my previous post, details about the EMW racing team are here. It was the only team from a Communist country to have participated in the top level of motor sport.

This website also gives details about the wide range of racing specials based on the BMW 328 which were around in the early post war years.

It reminds of this car, with no BMW connections, which I saw at the RIAC Classic Car Show last Sunday.

As it was a 'special', I did not feel I could use it for 'Name This Car', but can anyone guess the name of this car on the same stand?

The dog under his bonnet appeared last Oct already....

If you have read the letter to the editor in Octane of last October, you should be able to name the car from which the bonnet came.
