wlaidlaw Posted October 6, 2017 Share #10281  Posted October 6, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) ......ever get that sinking feeling?  A friend had one for sale in his garage near Huntingdon in the late 1960's. During a visit we were very rude about it, so he offered to demonstrate it to us in the local yachting lake/water reservoir. We got about one third of the way across, when the two people in the back said their feet were getting wet. A very rapid hard-about as we quickly realised that the small electric bilge pump was not keeping up with the seepage. It was distinctly sluggish and low in the water by the time we reached the ramp and I was getting ready to jump out and swim for it. We found that the bottom of the door seals where you lock the doors positively shut with a lever, had perished and were far from water proof plus the bilge pump inlet was mostly choked with rubbish. I don't think you will catch me in one again  Wilson
mikemgb Posted October 6, 2017 Share #10282  Posted October 6, 2017 these are getting surprisingly high bids at auction  They are, 30 years ago they were affordable and I did toy with buying one for a while. I'm actually glad I didn't, it would probably have been a huge money pit.
christoph_d Posted October 6, 2017 Share #10283  Posted October 6, 2017 I thought this would have been a nice follow up hint pic, but you were too fast... vanellus Posted October 8, 2017 Share #10288  Posted October 8, 2017 Older audi A8? Yes. Oldest Audi A8 1993. So called Space Frame full aluminium Chassis with just a weight of Orson Welles in his best days, pending in the boiler-house of the former coal-mine and Unesco World Heritage „Zollverein“ in Essen - North Rhine-Westphalia.  Your turn maximilianm3

wlaidlaw Posted October 10, 2017 Share #10291  Posted October 10, 2017 Looks a bit like the Rail Rover, that Land Rover built in the 1950's.

wlaidlaw Posted October 13, 2017 Share #10298  Posted October 13, 2017 Maybe US folks were smart enough to see it was not a real sports car.
stuny Posted October 13, 2017 Share #10299  Posted October 13, 2017 Wilson -  Do you have one to post?  9 years ago they sold 24,662 cars un the US, but in 2016 that number dwindled to 6,211, which many would argue is 7,000 too many.
wlaidlaw Posted October 13, 2017 Share #10300  Posted October 13, 2017 I am just packing to go back to the UK over the week-end so all hard drives disconnected. Regret therefore I have nothing available to post, which apart from a sarcastic comment, I did not name the car.  Wilson
