stuny Posted October 4, 2017 Share #10261  Posted October 4, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) AZach -  We seem to have become stalled. Perhaps we need a broader crop and or a hint? My first and only guess so far is that the vehicle is from Germany. Advertisement Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Hi stuny, Take a look here Name this car..... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
AZach Posted October 5, 2017 Share #10262 Â Posted October 5, 2017 Hello Stuart, Â actually the link in post #10250 by vanellus opens a full-size picture already. The vehicle does not originate from Germany or any other European country. Â Regards, Â Arto
wlaidlaw Posted October 5, 2017 Share #10263  Posted October 5, 2017 The two vehicles are an MRAP Scorpion made by Streit in Canada. The other one is a 1959 Cadillac DeVille maybe a coupé but that part is out of sight. This was the car that had the bullet like tail lights. I have nothing new to post but at least it releases the thread to allow someone else to post a new image.  Wilson
AZach Posted October 5, 2017 Share #10264 Â Posted October 5, 2017 Hello Wilson, Â the heavy one is not a MRAP Scorpion and not from Canada. But it sure serves similar purposes. Â Regards, Â Arto
wlaidlaw Posted October 5, 2017 Share #10265  Posted October 5, 2017 I was going by the pattern of the wheel lug bolts. The other one with a very similar bolt layout is the South African built RG32M Scout. I believe this is used by the Finnish army.  Wilson
AZach Posted October 5, 2017 Share #10266 Â Posted October 5, 2017 Hello Wilson, Â RG32M by South African BSE is correct - so all clear now for anybody to step in! Â Regards, Â Arto
stuny Posted October 5, 2017 Share #10267  Posted October 5, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Let's try this one. We all know the marque and general model, but who was the famous owner? Extra credit for full identification of the model. (I kept in the crop the Danish journalist behind the car since I like her looks).   Welcome, dear visitor! Michael Hiles Posted October 5, 2017 Share #10268  Posted October 5, 2017 Looks like a third cousin to John Lennon's psychedelic Phantom VI Rolls Royce.
wlaidlaw Posted October 5, 2017 Share #10269  Posted October 5, 2017 That 356 Cab. type C must be the world's most expensive one. It fetched more than you would pay for a late 356 Carrera Type 2, 2 litre 4 cam Cabriolet, in perfect condition and they are far more desirable (IMHO). Someone must have been a serious fan to have paid that for it. It reached over three times pre-sale estimate. Interestingly classic prices are now dropping quite fast, other than the very top end stuff ($2 million upwards), so the people who bought for an investment, rather than because they wanted the car to have and to drive, will be catching a cold - serve them right.  Wilson
christoph_d Posted October 5, 2017 Share #10270  Posted October 5, 2017 (edited) Wilson,  Didn't the previous owner asked God for a Mercedes Benz, not a Porsche!?  I don't know the exact model though...  Rgds  Christoph Edited October 5, 2017 by christoph_d
stuny Posted October 5, 2017 Share #10271  Posted October 5, 2017 Christoph -  Certainly an irony that the previous owner had a Porsche but asked for an MB, so it's clear you know it's Janis Joplin. Your turn.

wlaidlaw Posted October 5, 2017 Share #10273  Posted October 5, 2017 Someone paid over $1.5m with buyer's commission for Janis Joplin's 356 Cabriolet Type C at Sothebys in NY in 2015. I am not sure if you would call that a Ball and Chain or Kozmic Blues having somewhat overpaid for the car.  Wilson

stuny Posted October 5, 2017 Share #10275  Posted October 5, 2017 On top of that, it's not even the original paint as done by her band. That was painted over and recreated from photos. Yikes!
