MarkP Posted June 8, 2017 Share #9881 Â Posted June 8, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) My parents bought the first Alfasud Sprint in Sydney I 1979 (I think). - I was 17. I'd learned in a 1969 Corolla deluxe manual coupe so the Alfa was fantastic. Spartan, badly made - best brakes though! Â A friend's family had a similar vintage GTV - rusted out in it's first year and always in the workshop.

MarkP Posted June 8, 2017 Share #9882  Posted June 8, 2017 I don't know what this is. The side view mirror is obviously not original. I have a crop and the whole car. So I can post the pic of the whole car when requested...  Welcome, dear visitor! Rona!d Posted June 8, 2017 Share #9883 Â Posted June 8, 2017 In my youth the local FIAT dealers name was "Rost" (and so his showroom had the big letters R O S T" on the roof) which is the German word for "rust"Â
MarkP Posted June 8, 2017 Share #9884 Â Posted June 8, 2017 My parents could't help themselves with Italian cars. Â Another Alfa story: About 1970 my parents bought a red GTV 2000 Coupe. The night that took the car home it rained. Next morning the car was full of water. There was no rubber seal fitted around the front windscreen. Alfa refused to take the car back but replaced the carpet and fitted a rubber windscreen seal. Outcome - rust bucket!
gmo Posted June 8, 2017 Share #9885  Posted June 8, 2017 OK sorry for the long wait but it gave you the chance to dish up all stories about corroding Alfa's (and unfortunatley they are all true) but things have bettered since the Alfetta days.  So here is the next one and it is not an Alfa although there is some corrosion to be seen.  Welcome, dear visitor!
