YOU GOT IT STUART !!! The elusive ASA 1000 Spider (engine designed in Ferrari).... 6 or 7 made.... but have a magazine of 1967 which lists it as "regularly available" with a price of 2.520.000 It£ as its sister Coupe GT (to give you an idea, the excellent Giulia 1600 GT went for 2.155.000, and for 2.890.000 one could have the almost legendary Giulia GTA)

Coupe was pleasant and a bit more succesful... even if ASA lost money day by day and his owner closed it after a fine 3 years adventure as a car builder...

If I recall the initial ASAs had a 4 cylinder engine derived from the V12 in the 250s.

Here is your next one. I am afraid this was in the far background of a photo taken from the pit wall at Spa. I have already posted the cars in the foreground. I have a decent picture of this car's sister car but it is very recognisable in that one.

I too thought Maser, based on the grill, most particularly the vertical bars being concave.  How about Maserati A6 GCS MM from 1953?

 

Correct I post two pictures of these cars which I think are chassis numbers 2052 at Spa and 2058 at Silverstone (scanned from an old small print hence poor quality). They are both prepared by Gilbey Engineering but they must have run out of green paint, as they are painted different shades. They are lovely cars to drive and I prefer driving them to the later and quicker 200/250S 4 cylinder cars or the 300S six cylinder. The A6GCS engine is much smoother and more tuneful than the agricultural 4 cylinder and unlike the 300S, it is not too fast for its drum brakes.
