luigi bertolotti Posted November 30, 2010 Share #621 Posted November 30, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have vague remembrance of a car named Amilcar which had similar sizing... but I'd bet not a dime it's that...
Advertisement Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Hi luigi bertolotti, Take a look here Name this car..... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Sasmon Posted December 1, 2010 Share #622 Posted December 1, 2010 I think it is an Austin 7, a british car from circa the 1930's.
Sasmon Posted December 1, 2010 Share #623 Posted December 1, 2010 I'd go so far as saying it is an Austin 7 RP Box Saloon. Classified advert: Austin 7 RP Box Saloon - Motorbase £155 to £6500 in about 78 years. Is that a good investment? I'd have to get my calculator out......... LuxBob Posted December 2, 2010 Share #624 Posted December 2, 2010 (edited) I agree, although the nose mascot looks a bit strange. BMW had a licence to build this in Germany in the 1930's. The advertisement begs a question. Could the John Cook who is selling the car be related to Anthony Crook who went on to own the Bristol car company? Edited December 2, 2010 by LuxBob Another thought.
blinkings Posted December 2, 2010 Share #625 Posted December 2, 2010 Great pictures everyone. Any ideas on this one?

BMW had a licence to build this in Germany in the 1930's.The advertisement begs a question. Could the John Cook who is selling the car be related to Anthony Crook who went on to own the Bristol car company? I had the same thought about the mascot, but Im not sure if there is a drain cover or somthing in the road behind the car that looks like part of the mascot. A better scan of the photo might reveal. Not sure about the Bristol link, Could be.
LuxBob Posted December 3, 2010 Share #627 Posted December 3, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) If you look at that advertisement you might say that the advertising industry still uses the same copy today.
LeicaBraz Posted December 3, 2010 Share #628 Posted December 3, 2010 I wonder who would buy a car sold by a crook.
stuny Posted December 3, 2010 Share #629 Posted December 3, 2010 (edited) Blinkings - No that is a very difficult one since it is based on a US car, probably from the' 40s or '50s, and is very heavily modified. This will require guessing or having seen it at a car show. I'll guess it's based on a late '40s Mercury, though the engine is not the flathead of the era. LuxBob Posted December 4, 2010 Share #630 Posted December 4, 2010 Is there a hint of a Studebaker?
J_Thompson Posted December 5, 2010 Share #631 Posted December 5, 2010 How can anyone tell, as it's only 126 x 180 pixels and a one-off custom to boot.

luigi bertolotti Posted December 5, 2010 Share #633 Posted December 5, 2010 The typical front "nose" remembers something to me... but cannot say more... the engine is very little... I'd say a 4-cyl. around 1000-1500 cubic cm... so, I think, a European one...

stuny Posted December 6, 2010 Share #636 Posted December 6, 2010 John - The logo looks like a Lambo, but I can't recall a smooth bodied Lambo, especailly front engine (the smooth Miura was mid engine). It's quite striking, and the Cobras behind it look beautifully prepared. Once you reveal it I hope you'll include other views.
J_Thompson Posted December 6, 2010 Share #637 Posted December 6, 2010 Not a Lamborghini, Stuart, although the nose emblem does have the same shape. This may be difficult as this is a low volume, new design. Here's two hints: Zagato and the repro Cobras in the background. Will post a 3/4 rear shot shortly if nobody gets close. LuxBob Posted December 6, 2010 Share #638 Posted December 6, 2010 The nose says Europe but the general hippy, bippy in your face look is a bit American. And then there is the clue. Could this be a modern Shelby Cobra? Though didn't Carol Shelby die not too long ago, so could this be a kind of homage on the theme - this is what we think he would be doing now. I guess shooting in the dark could end up with shooting yourself in the foot but I kinda like it.

Zagato (just before going about bankrupcy) designed a car which brought to new life the old name Diatto... made don't-remember-where... is it, maybe ? luigi bertolotti Posted December 6, 2010 Share #640 Posted December 6, 2010 Thanks, LuxBob, that helped! Holden Efijy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Gosh... I grossly mis-read the picture... the other 4 cyli were covered, but I should have recognized it was a V motor...
