J_Thompson Posted October 6, 2010 Share #465 Posted October 6, 2010 Thanks, Kent. Have a go at this one, guys. The marque may be easy but the model could be pretty obscure. Welcome, dear visitor! J_Thompson Posted October 6, 2010 Share #467 Posted October 6, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Excellent, Gerd! You really know your automobiles! This was the first Giardinetta I had ever seen. You now have the helm, so to speak.
gmo Posted October 6, 2010 Share #468 Posted October 6, 2010 Maybe this one will be a little bit more difficult. Although I doubt it with all knowledge present here and the color may be a give away. J_Thompson Posted October 6, 2010 Share #470 Posted October 6, 2010 It looks like the Lusso has some competition accoutrements, Kent. Hood latches, number roundel on door, Shell Oil decal, etc. Is it set up for racing? I've never seen a Lusso in yellow before - unusual for this model. stuny Posted October 6, 2010 Share #471 Posted October 6, 2010 (edited) Gerd - It appears to be military, and probably European. That's as far as I can go. Edited October 7, 2010 by stuny

Yeah, it was VERY well done but an odd mix of street and competition. A nice set of Ferrari-faced stop watches too. I don't know the history but the owner isn't afraid to drive it, he was with us on the tour after the Keeneland Concours. Kent Welcome, dear visitor! LuxBob Posted October 7, 2010 Share #473 Posted October 7, 2010 German possibly in desert camouflage?
gmo Posted October 7, 2010 Share #474 Posted October 7, 2010 European, military and desert camouflage are correct, but it's not German. Regards Gerd
PasMichiel Posted October 7, 2010 Share #475 Posted October 7, 2010 Austin 8hp AP two-seater perhaps?
LuxBob Posted October 7, 2010 Share #476 Posted October 7, 2010 So it could be Britsih, Italian or French. Brits woudl build something robust, the French something elegant, while the Italians might go for something curvaceous. Could it be Italian?
gmo Posted October 7, 2010 Share #477 Posted October 7, 2010 Very good deduction LuxBob, Italian it is. That should limit the number of possibilities. The nice thing about this thread is that it sets you off searching for information on what other people submit in their answers. I at least learned something today about the Austin 8hp AP. Though the car we are looking for is bigger than the two-seater Austin. Regards Gerd
LuxBob Posted October 8, 2010 Share #478 Posted October 8, 2010 Still guessing I'd say not a Lancia as they tended to be more angular and attractive but it does appear to be a staff car. Maybe not an Alfa as even though they could be curvy they woudl not be what you would call voluptuous so could it be a prosaic Fiat, but not a Topolino? gmo Posted October 8, 2010 Share #479 Posted October 8, 2010 Not FIAT so one of the others. Regards Gerd
LuxBob Posted October 8, 2010 Share #480 Posted October 8, 2010 An Alfa Romeo designed by Carlo Ponti - the husband of Sophia Loren.
