OK, everybody. This particular model had a production run of a little over 300 examples. BTW, I may be away from a computer over the next several days, so might be slow in replying. Good luck.

This looks like it could be a Triumph Italia.

Thanks Kent. Two cars here, though the second one is just for amusement, but it really drives -- To take control of this thread you have to identify the first car.

We currently have a Red Bull promo car running around here- based on a new Mini with two-seater config and a huge can of 'bull angled on the back. I prefer the weiner.

Ian and Pete are correct. The Italia was based on TR3 mechanicals, styled by Michelotti and led to the TR4 shortly thereafter. Here's a frontal view.

Wow! That IS a good looking car! Never seen one before but I can see details of the TR4 in there.

As Michelotti got the job to design the TR4, I guess this proposal was too expensive for Triumph and the Italians went it alone? A further presumption would be that Triumph then saw this as a competitor and cut off the parts supply? Purely guesswork on my part.

Ian got the answer, I made a close guess. :)

Pretty car. I've actually seen one of these and am embarrased that I didn't think of it. I even made note of the off-center hood bulge looking like it belonged to a Triumph. Sigh, the mind is a terrible thing to waste.

I need some kind of sound activated signal when you fellows post. I have missed a couple that I could have identified, but there I was working. This is by far the most interesting game in a long while. Keep it up!

Check out Triumph Italia on Wikipedia, Pete. The guy who got the project rolling was the Italian importer for Triumph. He had Michelotti design the body with Vignale doing the coachwork. In 1961, Triumph was readying the TR4 for production and needed the mechanicals for their own car so that pretty much ended the Italia's too brief production. I don't think it was competition for the TR4 as it cost about 25% more which put it into Porsche and Alfa price territory.

Kent, I was surprised that you of all people, didn't get this one as you seem to know obscure Italian marques. I'm sure you'll get another chance in the future. :)

Hello,

Sorry it took so long, I only have tiny prints and the negs and have no scanner ! Also I apologize for the very poor quality, I could only get my hands on a very old flatbed Canon scanner... anyway, here is my pic... it was taken in 1999 on a Nikon FM2 at Spa_francorchamps. The owner of the car was a very good friend of mine, I have a big pile of this car in various historic races.

Perhaps a bit more detail could help.

Tip: you don't always need a scanner, if you have a lens that will focus close enough, just take a photo. Definition often better than a scanner.

ok, I hope this one works, I've put it on a different server.

Here are some more details about the car. Under 100 were built in the late 60s by a truck manufacturer. This company built another car which has to be one of the weirdest looking contraptions on 4 wheels.

I will post another image of the full car later.

The other mini-based Gt I want is the Cox GTM, perhaps more affordable than the Unipower. :)

How about this? Pretty easy I think. :)
