Almost spooky...

Suddenly formatting and zooming works as fast as on most contemporary cameras!

And, it does work in the "info" mode of review, so one can check the histogram for just a tiny part of the image real fast! Generally, "chimping" is a bad habit, but in many situations, detailed historgram checking isn´t. Now it´s fast and easy to do.

Just a side note:

Downloaded and installed, no problem. Used an SD card per instructions. After installation I threw in one of my 16 GB SDHC cards to test the format speed. It took about 4 seconds after inserting the new card before "Format Card" became selectable.

Anyway, it formats a 16 GB card about as fast as any DSLR out there. About time!

You need to download a program to un-zip the file.

Try stuffit expander, it is free.

Just google and you will find it.

Best regards

Need help!

Registered M9, downloaded new firmware, formated SD card in the M9, tried to open the update - did not - due to "no program available"

Have updated all firmware for my M8's with this laptop BacBook Pro 15 " OS-X, 10.6.2

What am I doing wrong, or what has changed?

Thank,

Teddy

It's already unzipped. At least it is every-time I've downloaded Leica firmware to a Mac (like I did half an hour ago).

Just drag it onto the SD card being careful to keep it in the upper level of the card hierarchy.

Automatically unzipping depends on the preferences of your browser.

I always unzip later to make sure an unwelcome download can't do mischief.

My 2 cents.

It should look like this:

OK, I went where MBV indicated and got it. It works.

Why isn't it on the standard download page? And only on the German website?

Bill,

Ever since they have been releasing M8 firmware updates Leica releases it on the German website first by a couple of hours if not a day.

I believe you need "StuffIt Expander". It's free.

..............

I just downloaded the directions and the firmware zipped file for the M9............

if the file you download is zipped, you need to uncompress it at first and then write the uncompressed file of the form m9-xxx.upd to the root directory of your SD card

Just tried the CV25 and CV15 for red edge/corners before and after the V1.116 update. No help with the red and vignetting is no better either. If anything, the CV25 is slightly worse than with V1.002.

The CV15 is manually coded as a 16-18-21@16, the CV25 is manually coded as a 24, both shot @ f/8.

I see that the CV25 performs significantly better when coded as a 21, but didn't try this under V1.002, so I have no comparison data.

I did notice that the color temp is about 300 degrees warmer with the new F/W using AWB. Didn't try manual WB.

Rats, this is disappointing. Having to run those images through Cornerfix adds significantly to the workflow. This is not Leica's problem, of course, but some improvement would have been nice.
