k-hawinkler Posted March 15, 2010 Share #83 Posted March 15, 2010 What is the difference between Overwrite and Format (Yes) when selecting format in the menu system? Overwrite is supposed to actually write a pattern to the storage medium. Format just purges file references in the directory structure.

diogenis Posted March 15, 2010 Share #85 Posted March 15, 2010 Automatically unzipping depends on the preferences of your browser.I always unzip later to make sure an unwelcome download can't do mischief. My 2 cents. This is a non issue for a Mac user. It never has been one. my 3c

You only need to add specialty software that you need.

sanyasi Posted March 15, 2010 Share #88 Posted March 15, 2010 Overwrite is supposed to actually write a pattern to the storage medium.Format just purges file references in the directory structure. Just for the record, Format (Yes) is much faster, as others have indicated Overwrite still is very slow. If Format (Yes) does the job, then it doesn't matter unless you have an unformatted card. bedaberger Posted March 15, 2010 Share #89 Posted March 15, 2010 Sorry, I'm not happy with this update... It doesn't make a M9 1.116 out of my M8 2.004... I'm happy to hear this positive response, it makes me selling my car to buy the M9! regards, Peter
wparsonsgisnet Posted March 15, 2010 Share #90 Posted March 15, 2010 ... Bill, Ever since they have been releasing M8 firmware updates Leica releases it on the German website first by a couple of hours if not a day. They sell cameras there?

I am familiar with some organizations that won't even allow email attachments, such as pdf files, from the outside. I have no interest to discuss this matter further and will discontinue my part of this discussion right here. Thanks for your understanding.
UliWer Posted March 15, 2010 Share #92 Posted March 15, 2010 They sell cameras there? Nah, this is only for the families of Leica-workers, who change them for cigarettes on the black market.
gwelland Posted March 15, 2010 Share #93 Posted March 15, 2010 Certainly fixed the idiot crash - the shoot in aperture priority with lens cap on, power off & battery out reset problem that, ahem, *other* people had been having

Steve Fines Posted March 15, 2010 Share #98 Posted March 15, 2010 Obviously some good improvements with the new fw. However, I am REALLY **really** disappointed that they did not fix the ability to do exposure bracketing when the camera is in manual mode. Big bummer. I'll write another letter - maybe next time. tom in mpls Posted March 15, 2010 Share #100 Posted March 15, 2010 Could somebody explain this improvement? For me is not so clear. I would like to know a bit more about this!Cheers I believe the idea is that the correction introduces some degradation of the image. Since low ISO has more room to allow correction/degradation, the software will apply more correction at this end; and in order to avoid more visible degradation at high ISO, less correction is applied there.
