zenonzinonos Posted June 22, 2011 Share #341 Posted June 22, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) and one more Summarit 1.5 at 1.5. Excellent pic - it has a 'film' feel which I like... one of the reasons that I recently purchased a CL because I was getting frustrated by the overly sharp, 'plastic' images seen lately.
Advertisement Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Hi zenonzinonos, Take a look here M8 and Old Glass. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Telyt2003 Posted June 22, 2011 Share #342 Posted June 22, 2011 ... getting slightly younger with the old long lenses on the M8: Example images of the Telyt 200/4 from the late 1950s. Again, only the head of the Telyt screwed into the Focorapid (it screws in directly without an adapter). The optical performance of this later 200 mm Telyt is slightly better than that of its predecessor, especially if opened past aperture 5,6. Also its close up performance is quite good! In contrast, the helical focusing mount is bigger, heavier and slower than that of the older design. As a result, I mainly use the Telyt 200/4 with the Focorapid. Stabilized with Pistock-C. However, its head protrudes more from the Focorapid and therefore is balanced less good with the Focorapid than that of the older Telyt 200/4,5 (this is important for the Focorapid's focusing 'behaviuor'). Concerning the handling, the older Telyt 200/4,5 appears to be the better choice; for optical performance, the newer Telyt 200/4 is the better choice. Best, Telyt2003 Welcome, dear visitor! WestMichigan Posted June 25, 2011 Share #346 Posted June 25, 2011 Hi Aviator: I like the 'atmosphere' that your Canon Ninety gives. Makes a simple bench on a sidewalk has the visual sensibility of a close up image of an architectural diorama. Quite Pleasing. Thanks For Sharing - Shoot More with it - I'd love to see em. R. in Mi. menos I M6 Posted June 26, 2011 Share #348 Posted June 26, 2011 @Aviator This Canon indeed looks like a very interesting lens! It is completely different in looks wide open to the Canon 100/2 LTM, I bought a few weeks ago, which could well be just the opposite in image character - tack sharp, contrasty, right from wide open! I would like to see more of the 90/1.9 as well.
Aviator Posted June 26, 2011 Share #349 Posted June 26, 2011 Thank You, i use the Canon 85 1,9 only on rare accasions because it is very heavy and I am still waiting for the viewfinder magnifier. Most times I use a M-Rokkor 90mm as "walkaround tele" on the M8. As for other old lenses: Here is one shot with the 1962 Summicron rigid wide open and another one with my favorite lens for the M8 the 40mm Summicron C from 1974 (quite new ) Welcome, dear visitor! menos I M6 Posted June 26, 2011 Share #352 Posted June 26, 2011 Love the shots Andy - next to your photographic decisions on subject, set, composition and timing, your combination of the lens' rendering and your processing shines! Really like these colors, you did there!

pgk Posted July 3, 2011 Share #355 Posted July 3, 2011 M8 c/w 21/3.4 SA & Cornerfix (in progress). Lovely lens! Very sharp centrally although corners show some drop off of micro detail. Metering is by guesstimate - I can usually hit about 60% acceptable exposure first shot much of the time so far. Evening in Llandudno, North Wales - current Britain. Welcome, dear visitor! framestore Posted July 5, 2011 Share #360 Posted July 5, 2011 If this thread gets the attention it deserves, Leica's gonna want answers why new lens sales have fallen off. If the new sales figure fallen down, why no-one has new summilux 50mm in stock?? i wonder
