No. My parents did not belong to that socio-economic stratum.

The old man from the Age of Zeiss Roll Film Folders

... and my first was a Zeiss Roll Film Folder... :) (dad's Super Ikonta - still have it - after he decided to go 35mm with a Contina) ; the first I BOUGHT was a Zorky 4K... at 17, the same year I firstly handled a Leica (IIIc) and decided it was for me, obviously couldn't buy one, went for Zorky and at the same time started a long saving...;)

In order:

My fathers Nikon F2 - 2 Megapixels Canon PowerShot - Leica D2 - Leica MP - Ricoh GRII (lost) - Ricoh GRIII - Hasselblad 501CM 2nd hand

Those in bold still owned. Most liked, of course MP, then the Hassie... I believe I'm all set for a while now, longed for the M9 for a while, but the temptation passed :)

The first camera I owned was a Minolta HiMatic 7s, followed by a Minolta X700. However, the camera I learned on was my father's Leica IIIf with an Elmar, 50 mm. He brought this camera back from when he was in the army during the Korean "police action." He gave that camera to me in the early 80's.

I have since added an M6 with a 50mm, Summicron and a Leica IIf. I bought the IIf just before Christmas because it was a deal I just couldn't pass up!

Was allowed to use my father´s AGFA- Click or Clack camera when I was 11 yrs. old,

and from then on I always looked at and admired these chrome-glittering LTM- Leicas

in the shop where I had my AGFA- films (contact-) printed ...

First real camera was a s/h ZORKI which was later substitutet by a LEICA M4.

LEICA ever since with a short ROLLEI SL- 66 period after seeing a Helfried Weyer slide show ...

Best

My first camera was a kodak instamatic. However, my first manual camera was a Pentax K1000. My first camera I loved was a Nikon FM2. Went through a mess of Nikons (including a F4) and then bought a Leica M4-2. That is when it all changed... used that for awhile and then scored a Leica M6 in the 90s. That was the ultimate camera which I used for many years until I traded it for a Contax G1 which I also really liked. In between all that I had several medium format cameras as well... and Contax and Leica P&S cameras. Then quit for 10 years until I bought another M recently... first, the M2, then the M8. Now I'm very happy again. Now I'm waiting for my X1 to be delivered. Back in the Leica game and happy.

No... It was a Pentax K1000 from 1977...

My father had a Leica M3 with an Elmar 50mm f/3.5 bought in 1963, just months before I was born but, since I was never allowed to touch it, I guess it doesn't count!

My very own first Leica (which I still use and cherish) was bought in 1981 and it's a lovely M4-P with a Summicron 50mm f/2. :)

No. My first 35mm camera was a Canon FTb with a 50mm lens, received as a gift when I was in college. I still own, and still use, this camera -- it functions today every bit as well as it did in the early 1970s. It was the only serious camera I owned until I inherited my Dad's SL2 and R5 (and 9 lenses) about three years back.

My first camera was my parents Kodak Instamatic.

The first camera I actually bought for myself was a no name clone of the Kodak Instamatic.

I bought a used Minolta X-500 with a 50mm, when I was in college. Nice little camera.

I got my first Leica in the late 90's. It was a black demo M6ttl, with a ding in the baseplate. I still have it.

First lens was a Summar 2/50, that was quickly replaced with a Summicron-DR 2/50 and joined by a Summicron-M 2/35 (4th).

After that it was a long slide down hill for my bank account, as several other Leicas started to mysteriously appear in my bag.
