Hi, I'm trying to import Leica M240 video files (MOV) into Apple Aperture (v 3.5.1) without success. Does anyone have any kind of relevant information that might help me with this? It's as if Aperture does not recognize the files as video. Thanks a lot. Martin. -
I just downloaded the latest Apple Camera RAW update with the illusion that it would support the Leica MM. Sadly it does not, however, it does support the brand new Hasselblad Lunar. I have to wonder if the MM fell through the cracks in Cupertino and they just don't know that they do not yet support it...

Much criticized Ken Rockwell has constantly written that he loves most everything about the M9 except its DNG color. Even though he prefers to shoot in JPG, he says that he would be quite willing to shoot with the M9's DNG if he could thereby find a PP remedy for the its allegedly poor rendering of colors. On 1/7/11, he wrote that after seeing "some great images from Leica's M9 as processed through Aperture 3," he downloaded it's latest version for trial. But that version, he claims, can read only M9 DNGs shot prior to his installed M9 firmware 1.138: "This compatibility baloney always haunts raw shooters, which is just one of innumerable reasons I prefer JPG. It's just that I'd love to figure out how to get a good picture out of the M9.As we say in real estate when trying to sell an awful house, the M9 'has great potential.' " Anyone's observations, comments, lines of thought?

Dass die enorme Pixeldichte des iPad 3 für Fotofreunde eine Augenweide sein kann, wurde hinlänglich beschrieben. Da ich alle meine Fotos seit Jahren in Aperture verwalte, habe ich sie über die direkte Synchronisation von Teilen der Aperture-Bibliothek auf mein iPad gebracht, da dies der bequemste Weg ist und dazu keine weiteren Download- oder Exportvorgänge benötigt werden. Gestört hat mich bislang, dass ich keinen Einfluss darauf hatte, mit welcher Auflösung die Fotos auf dem iPad landeten. Folge: schon beim ersten Hineinzoomen konnte ich nicht zufrieden sein. Das war mit dem iPad 3 nicht anders: was nützt mir eine tolle Auflösung, wenn die synchronisierten Fotos die Auflösung nicht hergeben? Ein Tipp in einem RRS-Feed erklärte die Hintergründe und brachte mich auf die Lösung: auf das iPad werden die sogenannten Vorschaubilder von Aperture synchronisiert, und deren Größe kann in den Voreinstellungen bis zur maximalen Auflösung der Originale eingestellt werden. Ich habe dies getan (M9 mit 5212 × 3468 Pixeln), das Ergebnis ist überwältigend! So knackig und scharf mit feinster Auflösung könnt Ihr Eure Leica-Bilder mit keine anderen Ausgabegerät sehen. Wegen der kontrastreichen Darstellung auf dem iPad fällt sogar ein sehr feiner Ausdruck mit dem Epson 3800 in DIN A5 leicht dagegen ab… Und dies sind die Daten dazu: 10.800 Pixel enthält ein qcm Fläche beim iPad 3 2.800 Pixel enthält ein qcm Fläche bei meinem MacBook Pro 15" mit der hohen Auflösung von 1680 x 1050 Pixel 1.600 Pixel enthält ein qcm Fläche beim normalen MacBook Pro 15" 1.400 Pixel enthält ein qcm auf meinem 24" Quato Monitor Skaliert man das Bild auf dem Monitor so, dass es mit derselben Größe wie auf dem iPad 3 dargestellt wird, sind feine Strukturen auf dem iPad 3 deutlich besser sichtbar. Es wird spannend, wenn die heutigen großen Monitore mit einer ähnlichen Pixeldichte auf den Markt kommen… Best Holger

I wonder if anyone else here is waiting for Aperture to support Monochrom's linear RAW files. I have used Aperture since version 1 and I am well used to it. I have tried Lightroom numerous times (including version 3 and now version 4) but still prefer the non-modular system in Aperture, it's full-screen mode, etc... Usually RAW support lags a couple months behind the camera release. Well, it's been 6 months since the MM was released and no support yet. Quite disappointing I must admit. I understand that this support requires the collaboration between Leica and Apple. Two companies known for not disclosing much of their roadmap/plans. I know people involved in this kind of development (new software versions, features, etc) are usually under NDA, but it would be great if at least some hint that this is in the works showed up somewhere... Already emailed Apple... what would be the best channel to reach Leica? Nonetheless, enjoying the camera...
