k-hawinkler Posted December 30, 2012 Share #2 Posted December 30, 2012 An educated guess?
earleygallery Posted December 30, 2012 Share #3 Posted December 30, 2012 Different dealers are saying different dates, nothing is definite and Leica have a tradition of delaying launch dates!
UliWer Posted December 30, 2012 Share #4 Posted December 30, 2012 Looking around in this Forum and in my surroundings there might be a very "serious" cause for a delay of the new M: the Monochrome. At the moment I already personally know more peope who have a Monochrome than I know people with an M9. The demand for the MM seems to be enormous which might cause problems for Leica's production capacities if they wanted to produce both cameras at the same time - and since they seem to earn more by selling the MM... Though that's only speculation.
mjh Posted December 30, 2012 Share #5 Posted December 30, 2012 While I am nor aware of any delay (i.e. I still believe the M will start shipping in March), with the ongoing beta test one cannot really pinpoint a specific date. And unless you are one of the first to have pre-ordered the M, the first day of availability won’t matter to you anyway.
k-hawinkler Posted December 30, 2012 Share #6 Posted December 30, 2012 I prefer to wait for the M until it's properly finished. Hopefully, Leica has currently a revenue stream so that they can afford to do that.
Bill W Posted December 31, 2012 Share #7 Posted December 31, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would guess that the MM is a pretty good revenue stream at the present time.

And unless you are one of the first to have pre-ordered the M, the first day of availability won’t matter to you anyway. I'll second this. We've received no firm delivery date from Leica. Any date posted by any dealer (including ourselves) is just a guess.
Olsen Posted January 2, 2013 Share #9 Posted January 2, 2013 When can we expect to see any pictures that this new M-240 can produce?
IWC Doppel Posted January 2, 2013 Share #10 Posted January 2, 2013 When can we expect to see any pictures that this new M-240 can produce? Exactly, until these are here forget imminent IMO
jonoslack Posted January 2, 2013 Share #11 Posted January 2, 2013 When can we expect to see any pictures that this new M-240 can produce? Exactly, until these are here forget imminent IMO I don't think there's any direct relationship between delivery and samples - . . . . . except that Leica are unlikely to release samples until delivery is really imminent - not because they aren't good enough yet - simply because there's no need to, and there's always a chance that someone testing will turn up an issue in the meantime. March sounds good to me - Samples in February maybe? all the best
rramesh Posted January 2, 2013 Share #12 Posted January 2, 2013 As long at it's not 29/2/2013, you should be OK.
thighslapper Posted January 2, 2013 Share #13 Posted January 2, 2013 crumbs...... if thats true I had better start squirreling away cash... my rather lax financial planning assumed that despite being near the top of my deaers waiting list I would not see a camera till at least easter... nicks500 Posted January 2, 2013 Share #14 Posted January 2, 2013 Well this maybe building up my hopes but my dealer said that he heard from Leica who said the cameras are going to be earlier than predicted and I will get my typ 240 in January.....hopefully
johnbuckley Posted January 2, 2013 Share #15 Posted January 2, 2013 It is, officially, now "early 2013." The countdown begins in earnest. Sleep patterns become fitful. But a reminder to all: the M9 is still a lovely, lovely camera.

Archiver Posted January 4, 2013 Share #17 Posted January 4, 2013 A lot of people seem to be excitedly anticipating the M's release date, and rightly so. But I remember my own almost manic sense of anticipation for the official statement about the M9, bordering on pathologically obsessive. I was checking the camera sites and forums every hour for more leaks or news in the weeks leading up to Leica's announcement date. I've never been so obsessive about a new camera as the M9. I bought mine about four or five months after they were released into the wild, and no other camera has given me the same feeling, or same anticipation. The M? Super happy with my M9 right now, and the M, while a very significant upgrade, doesn't have anywhere near the emotional reaching that the M9 gave me. It comes when it comes. Guest odeon Posted January 7, 2013 Share #18 Posted January 7, 2013 Leica M-240 will be available in February-2013, but waiting lists are too long, like China's Great Wall. For example my order will come "earliest" April-2013. PS: I ordered it in September-2012, in a top dealer, in Europe.
sisoje Posted January 7, 2013 Share #19 Posted January 7, 2013 I will give my dealer a call around June... I am sure by then all "real life beta testers" will figure out if there is a "major glitch" With the new camera. My luck is that "my guy" has a good relations with supply lords at Leica Canada, and every time so far (for both M8 and M9) he was able to get me a camera with in weeks... Fgcm Posted January 7, 2013 Share #20 Posted January 7, 2013 My dealer told me that my M should arrive at the beginning of February. As soon as I have any precise date of delivery, I post it. Franco
