lct Posted February 15, 2015 Share #4 Posted February 15, 2015 The latest MSRP of the 12466 hood was 293 EUR + VAT in Europe i.e. 350 EUR more or less.
Bill W Posted February 16, 2015 Share #5 Posted February 16, 2015 12466 lens hood. If anybody spots one of the elusive little devils let me know. Wow, I sold mine on ebay about 6 weeks ago for $375 and probably netted $350 after the fees. I sold it because I just did not use it.
FrozenInTime Posted February 16, 2015 Share #6 Posted February 16, 2015 Yep, when new popflash was selling them at $359 - with tax and shipping that settled at $396.78; I must have been crazy back then. No one knew they would be limited to a single production run ... until it was too late.
Winedemonium Posted February 16, 2015 Share #7 Posted February 16, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm curious about this hood. I can see that it has the clamp approach common to the older types of Leica hoods. Does it also have the lock/indent that the 28mm Cron's existing hood has that locks it into 12 o'clock? I know the whole 28 hood thing has been discussed to death, but I must say, I really do like Leica's new generation of lens hood designs - 35 FLE / 21 SEM, 21/24 LUX, and the new Summarit 35 and 50s. If Leica don't drop the 28 Cron (given they will soon have the 28 Lux while also having the 28 Elmarit), I wonder if they will simply update the ergonomics to the modern barrel and screw/lock hood configuration? It is not out of keeping for Leica to update cosmetics while keeping optics the same (e.g. Noctilux f/1 from v3 to v4). Incidentally, take a look at the lens hood on the M60 version of the 35 FLE. It is the modern screw/lock variety and is very similar to how I imagine Leica would update the 28 Cron hood.

rirakuma Posted February 16, 2015 Share #9 Posted February 16, 2015 You could try negotiate the price down a little bit. It's so hard to even find one for sale anymore and it's only going to get harder as years go by. I was looking for this hood for a year and have only seen a handful for sale and they were snatched up pretty quickly. Best of luck
FrozenInTime Posted February 16, 2015 Share #10 Posted February 16, 2015 I'm curious about this hood. I can see that it has the clamp approach common to the older types of Leica hoods. Does it also have the lock/indent that the 28mm Cron's existing hood has that locks it into 12 o'clock? Yes, two pips on the horizontal prevent it rotating.
