enboe Posted September 28, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 28, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) While I wait for my chance to be an M9 owner, I was thinking about what I would like to see in a professional version of the M9, herein referred to as the MP9: 1) Start with the existing M9 2) Substitute hard silver chrome for the top and bottom plates and all controls. 3) The top plate would not have the M9 logo or red dot, but rather look like an MP 4) Sapphire for the back screen please 5) Vulkanite covering I'd go US$8000 or even $8500 to get this configuration from the factory. So, what's on your wish list? White? Safari? Hermes leather? Gold plate? Titanium? Eric

sparkie Posted September 28, 2009 Share #6 Posted September 28, 2009 black paint. No dot. Engraved Leica script + wetzlar + s/n. Weather sealed body compartments and lens mount.
batmobile Posted September 28, 2009 Share #7 Posted September 28, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Recessed buttons. Any finish that is practical. Black, grey, whatever... No Leica dot No base loading for cards. slight swell for grip Better high ISO. $2K OK maybe not. Basically the M10. I just cannot get into the a la carte concept for a digital camera. They have as much soul as a Toyota Corolla (supremely reliable car!). Anything mechanical is easier to attribute soul to than digital electronic thingies IMO. Overgaard Posted September 28, 2009 Share #8 Posted September 28, 2009 Black edition with chrome top and buttom (but no chrome buttons on the back, please) On top of that Belikin weather sealing in white and one in black. They do protective covers for iPhones with anti-slip materiale, so why not for the M9. A simple 40$ cover. I was shooting in the hospital the other day, and there a white M9 would have looked "almost official."
Sandokan Posted September 28, 2009 Share #9 Posted September 28, 2009 Black paint. No M9 logo. Black dot. Lever for winding on (like DMR R9)
ulrikft Posted September 28, 2009 Share #10 Posted September 28, 2009 All black No red dot weather sealing Stolen sensor from Sony to increase iso performance more info in the viewfinder (iso and shutter speed would be swell) Reduced on->ready to shoot speed. that is about it

I understand your request to be more a wish list for a BTO option. By not starting with the existing M9 version: What I recommend for a(n advanced) professional version is a state-of-the-art 25 MP sensor with matching electronics as well as superior quality and robustness. Regards, Hartmut The M9 is more then sufficient with its 18MP sensor ,we are talking about state-of-the-art technology already! What should be offered is a A-la-carte then we all can have our own individual look. Armin
ChrisC Posted September 28, 2009 Share #18 Posted September 28, 2009 Let's be radical and pretend we are up to date with 1980s design and have built-in variable diopter correction and a low zoom facility to replace the ridiculous screw in magnifiers. Dump twinned frame-lines as a crappy idea for the 1980s and have single frame-lines only to give an uninterrupted viewing experience. Look forward to the 2000 viewfinder design experience in around about 2050, this will have electronic frame-lines which change size with focus tracking, and have the option to grey-out the area outside of the frame if the operator chooses. ............... hsittel Posted September 28, 2009 Share #20 Posted September 28, 2009 The M9 is more then sufficient with its 18MP sensor ,we are talking about state-of-the-art technology already! Armin, what I'm thinking of is a pixel pitch similar to the Hasselblad sensor, which is 6.0 µm. With this, the sensor would have 24 MP and so roughly match the performance of the latest M lens series in terms of LP/mm. 21...25 MP sensors are already used by top level DSLRs, why not by an M9+ ? Anyway, the existing sensor is of course state-of-the-art... What should be offered is a A-la-carte then we all can have our own individual look. That's what I meant by BTO (built-to-order)!
