carlosecpf Posted September 18, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 18, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi guys! Since I cannot sleep and it is already friday in NY, I decide to post a fun test to start the weekend! Below you will find 3 pictures I have just taken out of my window with a Digilux 3 (14-50mm f/2.8), a Digilux 2 and a D-lux 4. I won't tell which camera produced each image now, because I would like you to take a guess! All pictures are JPEGs straight from the camera and have the following characteristics: f/5.6 Shutter Speed: 4 seconds ISO 100 Focal length (35mm): 28mm I think it will be fun! You can see the pictures in high resolution here: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2546/3931034188_528b43d7db_b.jpg (Picture 1) http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2492/3930252909_9ca1b5c533_b.jpg (Picture 2) http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3506/3930253005_80f80c88b0_b.jpg (Picture 3) Welcome, dear visitor! ayham Posted September 18, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 18, 2009 Hi Carlos, No. 1 and 3 seem to belong to the two Digiluxes (don't know which is which) because colors look similar. ayham
psquared Posted September 18, 2009 Share #3 Posted September 18, 2009 I would say D-Lux 4 Digilux 2 Digilux 3 looking at their specular highlight patterns.
zenonzinonos Posted September 18, 2009 Share #4 Posted September 18, 2009 Here's my 5-cents' worth... No 1 : DLux 4 No 2 : D 2 No 3 : D
joppepop Posted September 18, 2009 Share #5 Posted September 18, 2009 I think: D-lux 4 Digilux 3 Digilux 2 They were not that different from what I would have thought, colour-wise. With more neon, the differences might have been more visible. You can see that they have different aperture design, all three of them, and one also shows a bit more flare. Have put it on the "bay" if you know anyone interested. In fact, if anyone on the "Forum" is interested in a lovely D2, please let me know; look on the bay for it. Have it listed for $900 OBO, but hey, make me an offer; 'ya never know... Thanks for the pics Carlos, Bob leica@fuse.net OOPS!! Posted this in the wrong thread previously... carlosecpf Posted September 19, 2009 Author Share #13 Posted September 19, 2009 And the correct answer is: 1: D-lux 4 2: Digilux 2 3: Digilux 3 Impressive how the a large number of you guys were right on the spot! For the over all image quality, I like the D2 picture better though it show some barrel distortion at 28mm. At 100% crop, however, the D-Lux 4 shows more detail while the D3 shows a lot of Noise Reduction as compared to the other two contenders. Perhaps, shooting RAW would benefit the D3 better... I will post a 100% crop later so you can compare them better. Thank you for taking your guesses and wow me with your knowledge!
kalina Posted September 19, 2009 Share #14 Posted September 19, 2009 I love the star patterns that the D-Lux 4 can produce. I like some of the star patterns on the Digilux-3 as well. The detail of all three pictures is pretty good. Each camera has its own character.
wilfredo Posted September 19, 2009 Share #15 Posted September 19, 2009 I'm not familiar with these cameras but you have a room with a view!
joppepop Posted September 19, 2009 Share #16 Posted September 19, 2009 Yay! Strike! I guessed that the last picture was from the D2 because blue colour was more saturated than in the others. The flare in the first picture seemed a bit severe for the D3 kit lens, hence the vote on D-lux 4 for that one. That was more a hunch, because I have never used a D-lux 4. Luck, in other words. leica@fuse.net Posted September 20, 2009 Share #20 Posted September 20, 2009 Just curious -- why did you buy a second one and are selling the first? Well I have purchased several and keep up-grading the quality each time. So far, this is my 3rd. :eek Make me an offer if you want a great D2.
