Take a guess: which Leica produced each image?

Hi guys!

Since I cannot sleep and it is already friday in NY, I decide to post a fun test to start the weekend! Below you will find 3 pictures I have just taken out of my window with a Digilux 3 (14-50mm f/2.8), a Digilux 2 and a D-lux 4. I won't tell which camera produced each image now, because I would like you to take a guess! ;) All pictures are JPEGs straight from the camera and have the following characteristics:

f/5.6

Shutter Speed: 4 seconds

ISO 100

Focal length (35mm): 28mm

I think it will be fun!

You can see the pictures in high resolution here:

I think:

D-lux 4

Digilux 3

Digilux 2

They were not that different from what I would have thought, colour-wise. With more neon, the differences might have been more visible. You can see that they have different aperture design, all three of them, and one also shows a bit more flare.

Carlos,

Great Idea! I pick

1. D4

2. D2

3. D3

BTW: I just got a 2nd D2 so I'm selling my first one now. Have put it on the "bay" if you know anyone interested. In fact, if anyone on the "Forum" is interested in a lovely D2, please let me know; look on the bay for it. Have it listed for $900 OBO, but hey, make me an offer; 'ya never know...

Thanks for the pics Carlos,

Bob

And the correct answer is:

1: D-lux 4

2: Digilux 2

3: Digilux 3

Impressive how the a large number of you guys were right on the spot! For the over all image quality, I like the D2 picture better though it show some barrel distortion at 28mm. At 100% crop, however, the D-Lux 4 shows more detail while the D3 shows a lot of Noise Reduction as compared to the other two contenders. Perhaps, shooting RAW would benefit the D3 better... I will post a 100% crop later so you can compare them better.

Thank you for taking your guesses and wow me with your knowledge!

Yay! Strike! :)

I guessed that the last picture was from the D2 because blue colour was more saturated than in the others. The flare in the first picture seemed a bit severe for the D3 kit lens, hence the vote on D-lux 4 for that one. That was more a hunch, because I have never used a D-lux 4. Luck, in other words.

Just curious -- why did you buy a second one and are selling the first?
