Venkman Posted September 15, 2009 Share #21 Â Posted September 15, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) What I find interesting is that the cigar shot shows quite natural colors on the glowing cigar tip - something that I would expect on the M8 to very magenta due to the IR sensivity, even with filter. Advertisement Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Hi Venkman, Take a look here Debunking online myths. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
exile Posted September 15, 2009 Share #22 Â Posted September 15, 2009 Massive thanks to Riccis for showing what the M9 can do in weak natural light. Tungsten light and in-camera jpg samples do not make for a particularly meaningful conclusion for the kind of low light shooting I like to do in the long scandinavian summer evenings. Thanks again. JSU Posted September 15, 2009 Share #23 Â Posted September 15, 2009 Focused on the cigar... Â Â Cheers, Â Thank you for sharing all these files. The look, as in tones and noise, are very pleasing. The new Noct certainly provides a means for selective focus! You clearly understand this lens. Â What did you use for RAW conversions?
sm23221 Posted September 15, 2009 Share #24 Â Posted September 15, 2009 Nice series. It looks like you've mastered quick focus with the new Nocti - what a great lens it is. There will always be complaints from people who will never be satisfied even with current technology. The truth is you've proven that if one knows how to handle a camera and lens, one can obtain excellent results.
Riccis Posted September 15, 2009 Author Share #25 Â Posted September 15, 2009 JSU - Believe it or not these were quick RAW conversions from ACR (which I don't even use for my work).

charlesphoto99 Posted September 15, 2009 Share #28 Â Posted September 15, 2009 Great stuff in real world usage. Â Of course there will always be those who think there's too much noise- their cats deserve much better! Â The only thing I don't like about these photos is you have an M9 and I don't! I've got cash in hand and no camera to be found anywhere.
Artichoke Posted September 15, 2009 Share #29 Â Posted September 15, 2009 looks like the M9 will be a winner the high ISO performance seems more than adequate, particularly as the file size is so much larger thanks for taking the time to share these

I would feel severly hampered by not being able to shoot at 12,500 ISO.

MPJMP Posted September 16, 2009 Share #32 Â Posted September 16, 2009 Beautiful! Â Do you forsee a day when you might give up your M3s and Neopan and just show up with a few M9s?

dfarkas Posted September 16, 2009 Share #34 Â Posted September 16, 2009 Great stuff Riccis. I especially like the marshmellows and the "yummy" afternoon light shots. You really make the new Noct sing a beautiful song. Â David

I know at least one London dealer with a short waiting list who will have stock within about 10 days. My own (different) London dealer has already had two deliveries (15 units) and is confident of another within the next 5 days. The UK price (once you take out the 15% VAT) is pretty much the same as the USA and you get the benefit of 2 year passport warranty (jn addition to the standard international one). Â I doubt I'll have time when I'm in London to track one down (with wife and a seven month old in tow). Will have more time in Dusseldorf when visiting my wife's family and maybe I'll get lucky and stumble across one. Â Problem is not sure how the crossover with Passport works to the US. I'm sure my dealer will have one for me soon enough. But thanks for thinking of me!
photogdave Posted September 16, 2009 Share #37 Â Posted September 16, 2009 Maybe it's my monitor calibration - but I just don't like those colors! No offense Riccis, I admire your skill and talent, but I really don't like the look of these images. Too saturated. How do the colors look at low ISO? Any examples for us?
jaapv Posted September 16, 2009 Share #38 Â Posted September 16, 2009 The colours are full - but perfectly balanced on my fully calibrated Eizo screen. It may be a matter of taste, but I like them -very much.
pklein Posted September 17, 2009 Share #39 Â Posted September 17, 2009 Beautiful stuff, Riccis. Thanks for sharing. Real-world examples are so important--they provide a counterbalance to the pixel peeping. You've show us that the M9 plays very nicely when the lights are low.
