M9, early firmware, 90mm Apo-Summicron (notice: camera accidently manually set at 50mm!)

p.s. Checked my tests and it can well be the recent 50 Summicron at 2.0 or 2.8 but I still think it was the 90.

Ronald,

That is the best image I've seen to date shot with the M9! I love your use of lighting, it allows us to see what this camera can produce. The skin texture and tones are beautiful in their simplicity. This is where a CCD sensor excels and it looks to me like the M9 has retained a lot of the M8 signature. I look forward to more.

But .... would it have looked very different taken with an M8 is the key question now

IF the 90 Apo is finetuned for your own M8, it would maybe be similar, but this is a pair never seen the Customer Service together, so I´m quit happy.

As a film-guy, I´m quit sure that my MP or M3 would make it as good as the stillvideo-cameras (some say even better, where is Mr Lamb?;))

I agree ... first convincing M9 picture so far ! A very fine portrait.

The resolution is obviously superior to the M8 due to the larger file size, but the difference would only become more obvious when you go big IMHO.

I rarely take pictures in camera shops, because most of my cameras arrive via postman ;)

p.s. But these neon shots are always great to test the AWB, i bought one 450D in a camera shop and found out how bad the AWB is under such conditions.

I'm not convinced that's true. The pixel size/area is the same as the M8 sensor, it's just a larger sensor.
