Advertisement Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Hi Rona!d, Take a look here M9 - 1st (quick test) portrait. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wilfredo Posted September 10, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 10, 2009 Ronald, That is the best image I've seen to date shot with the M9! I love your use of lighting, it allows us to see what this camera can produce. The skin texture and tones are beautiful in their simplicity. This is where a CCD sensor excels and it looks to me like the M9 has retained a lot of the M8 signature. I look forward to more.
roguewave Posted September 10, 2009 Share #3 Posted September 10, 2009 Ronald, really lovely portrait. The restoration of the full frame has begun.

j. borger Posted September 10, 2009 Share #8 Posted September 10, 2009 I agree ... first convincing M9 picture so far ! A very fine portrait. But .... would it have looked very different taken with an M8 is the key question now
luigi bertolotti Posted September 10, 2009 Share #9 Posted September 10, 2009 This is a SPLENDID portrait, M9 or not... ; oh well, the stunning eyesight probably owes something to the sensor-lens-etc..., but, as always, the more a portrait is great, the more is the taker to credit. Rona!d Posted September 10, 2009 Author Share #10 Posted September 10, 2009 But .... would it have looked very different taken with an M8 is the key question now IF the 90 Apo is finetuned for your own M8, it would maybe be similar, but this is a pair never seen the Customer Service together, so I´m quit happy. As a film-guy, I´m quit sure that my MP or M3 would make it as good as the stillvideo-cameras (some say even better, where is Mr Lamb?)

A very fine portrait. But .... would it have looked very different taken with an M8 is the key question now The resolution is obviously superior to the M8 due to the larger file size, but the difference would only become more obvious when you go big IMHO. Guest Essemmlee Posted September 10, 2009 Share #12 Posted September 10, 2009 Very impressive apparent detail - especially in the eyes. Great shot.
ddp Posted September 10, 2009 Share #13 Posted September 10, 2009 Ron - was this shot as a jpeg or DNG?
arthury Posted September 10, 2009 Share #14 Posted September 10, 2009 What was the aperture?
Rona!d Posted September 10, 2009 Author Share #15 Posted September 10, 2009 @ ddp: DNG, but i could also get a nice JPG with the M9. @ arthury: I cannot say exactely, 2.8 i think.
luigi bertolotti Posted September 10, 2009 Share #16 Posted September 10, 2009 What was the aperture? Let me guess... not f2 ... I say 2,8 or a little bit closer
Rona!d Posted September 10, 2009 Author Share #17 Posted September 10, 2009 p.s. Checked my tests and it can well be the recent 50 Summicron at 2.0 or 2.8 because two shots ealier i showed my 5 fingers for 50mm, though the crop (nearly uncropped) suggests 90mm to me
dpattinson Posted September 10, 2009 Share #18 Posted September 10, 2009 Nice work, rather better way to judge than the 'guys in a camera shop with neon/fluoro/whatever light' stuff that people are getting antsy about
Rona!d Posted September 10, 2009 Author Share #19 Posted September 10, 2009 I rarely take pictures in camera shops, because most of my cameras arrive via postman p.s. But these neon shots are always great to test the AWB, i bought one 450D in a camera shop and found out how bad the AWB is under such conditions. sm23221 Posted September 10, 2009 Share #20 Posted September 10, 2009 The resolution is obviously superior to the M8 due to the larger file size, but the difference would only become more obvious when you go big IMHO. I'm not convinced that's true. The pixel size/area is the same as the M8 sensor, it's just a larger sensor.
