I'll wait until next year before we go to Europe. Hope they offer a sapphire crystal lcd. And, wait to get the noise and magenta color cast and whatever problems cleared up. At base ISO I still really enjoy my M8.

Now the :D answer: I'll wait until the M9 sales slow and Leica announces a M8.3 upgrade to FF with Maestro processor! Yeah. :D

Why would I not buy:

  1. WB is not convincing
  2. Images are 99.9% soft across the whole frame --- WHY?
  3. LCD is not larger enough

I think you meant, "why would I buy?"

Re. pt 1. Do you shoot a lot of jpegs that you are concerned about WB? This is essentially a RAW camera.

Pt 2. Soft images caused by....? photog or camera or......... Not afair assessment IMO.

Pt. 3. It's not meant to be TV. What does the LCD really tell you in this style of camera. If it's that important to your work, maybe you are a candidate for a dSLR.

I remain satisfied with my M8 and thus far I haven't seen anything significantly better than an M8 file produced by the M9, besides I don't have the cash, and even if I did, I would not buy at this time, it is priced too high.

I have an SD card to look through in the morning, shot entirely with my Noctilux which is my staple M lens at this point. I've been waiting for a full frame M - but I need to be convinced on a few fronts before I liquidate some of the film gear. To me, the DMR has been somewhat of a standard in the "look" that I'd want in another Leica digital product. And while I am realistic in my expectations that the M9 will not mimic the DMR in file appearance, I am quite curious to see how it stacks up against the Nikon D3...something I use on a daily basis for corporate work and weddings. Hard to justify 7K if it's an issue of almost, but not quite yet.

I haven't bought one because it was just officially announced less than 24 hours ago and it will take me much longer than that to free up the funds.

But I do plan to make the M9 my entry into digital.

I had the opportunity to buy one yesterday afternoon but have decided to wait a while (I'm on holiday anyway). I'm more ambivalent about it than I expected but I expect I'll get one once I've had a chance to check it out for myself thoroughly.

Had one in my hands yesterday.

Looks like an M8 ;)

A few extra pixels would be nice but the extra pixels are not significant for my prefered print-sizes.

FF .... very nice but not worth an upgrade price of Euro 4000,-

Better high Iso .... non issue for me. I shoot Iso640 and below 99,99%

I do not buy a new car, computer or TV whenever a new model hits the market.

Why should i replace a perfect working camera with hard to beat file-quality?

Not at this moment! I'll skip a model.

In the meantime i shoot MF film and polaroids along the M8 to broaden my horizon :D

I didn't buy an M9. First of all because I'm still enjoying my M8 and second because any time I've bought a first series I only had troubles. I will see what happens and then, in six months or so, maybe I will get one. For what I saw posted so far, there is not a great improvement in those qualities I would need (better behaviour with high Iso, colours quality and so on).

Obviously, the full frame is appealing. We will see.

I haven't, but might, maybe, possibly in a year or wait for the upgaded model. The M9 is darned close to tempting me into the digi markt, btu not quite enough to make me bite right away. Reasons: it is not proven yet and will likely need refinement for smooth trouble free software and hardware performance.

I am a touch disappointed the did not improve SD card access and the controls on the cameras rear to make them less knockable. Still, 18MP and good primes should result in impressive files.

My pictures are not nearly good enough to justify so large an expense and they won't get better by that amount. It's out of my league.

That what's my wife tells me, but it's sooo tempting to get FF and get rid of those IR filters. Then the same set of lenses would match both my M6 the M9 and I don't have to hassle with IR-filters on and of. Lower noice on high ISO sounds tempting too.
