KM-25 Posted September 10, 2009 Share #4 Posted September 10, 2009 I spent over two hours with it today, for 7K, to be honest, I was hoping for about 1 stop better noise control. I am going to hang tight and see what the top reviewers put forth.

leica007 Posted September 10, 2009 Share #6 Posted September 10, 2009 Waiting for Leica to send me an M9 for assisting them in the viral marketing:D
stephengilbert Posted September 10, 2009 Share #7 Posted September 10, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I guess this says it all: the norm here is to buy whatever Leica wants to sell us as soon as they offer it to us. If you don't, you'd better have a damned good reason.
photophile Posted September 10, 2009 Share #8 Posted September 10, 2009 My m4-2, my m6 and my m8 have helped me create images for years - that have satisfied my artistic desires, my photographic needs and my client's demands. At 7 grand, it would have to be a true paradigm shift ( I have FF in film) or offer a very significant new mode of expression,( one or two stops greater iso does not count as enough). In time, if the benefits offered by this camera appear to satisfy those requirements - for me - perhaps I'll rethink. But for now, for me, I'll keep making beautiful, or meaningful images with the tools at hand. That is not meant to disparage other's - for whom the choice and needs are different than mine. For them, and for Leica, I am glad there is a new option in the M line.

Jeff S Posted September 10, 2009 Share #11 Posted September 10, 2009 Here's an excerpt from my post in another related thread... (snip)... I'm left to decide if the M9 offers anything compelling...for me...over and above my M8.2. Well, my M8.2 has a better LCD screen, a top plate display (which I like), and most importantly, generates superb files for my type of shooting and printing. And, I just happen to have fallen in love with the 28 cron asph and 50 lux asph on the camera, for FOV and image quality. I'm also unlikely to go wider than 28. Filters are a non-issue for me...have them, stick them on, and forget them completely. So, unless IQ differences (and headroom for PP) along with high ISO performance prove compelling, I'm already a happy camper. (Small wish...quiet shutter and cocking like my M7s would have been tempting.) Now, if a monochrome M9 ever emerges... Jeff

arthury Posted September 10, 2009 Share #19 Posted September 10, 2009 Why would I not buy: WB is not convincing Images are 99.9% soft across the whole frame --- WHY? LCD is not larger enough
