Hmm ever hear of the Minllux Zoom or the CM Zoom. Have a little patience, with the 09-09-09 launch Leica set the stage, X1, M9 and S2, a base to build an all digital era for the company....

God I hope not...

Regards,

Bill

Ack! Thats what I happens when posting late! I was meaning build on in the digital era, I still take the IIIc for a spin, and am having a last fling with Kodachrome in my Minilux. Still have my eye on the X1 though.

Personally, I'm ok with a fixed lense. The only issue I have is with speed - why f2.8 instead of f2.0 or (we can wish!) f1.4?

No doubt for quality reasons. To achieve the overall quality they have with the f2.8 lens in an f2 or f1.4 would make the camera significantly larger, and it's already at the breaking point for size now.

Only if it would use M lenses and come in at less than half the price of the m9.

Otherwise there are too many options at a much more reasonable cost. If I can get 85% of the image quality at 15-20% of the cost, I can forego the Leica kool-aid and get on with

shooting. Two grand for a fixed focus point & shoot is ridiculous unless you have more

money than brains.

Few days ago Leica announce that from X1 will born family. So The idea of a different X1 was not so crazy?:)

Yeah, I was surprised as well, though it sounds like it'll be more about having different focal length versions of the X1 than an interchangable model to start with.

No of course, we could expect this easily. Next step should be a new X with EVF and a moderate zoom i guess but i don't despair to get an M mount on those little beasts personally.

It wasn't really an "announcement". It was a comment made by someone from Solms (forgot who it was) in an interview.

Oké, thank you nhabedi.

This makes me hopefull for a X1 zoom.

With a zoom the X1 would be my "always there allround" camera.

Without a zoom I am not interested in the X1.

Then I would go for micro 4/3 instead.
