adan Posted August 13, 2009 Share #2 Posted August 13, 2009 Quick, where's Sean Reid? We need him to produce a rumor comparison test of the ZI and the M9!
lct Posted August 13, 2009 Share #3 Posted August 13, 2009 According to this site 'The digital Zeiss ikon will be 35mm full frame using Sony's Exmor R back-illuminated CMOS sensor. Sony's Exmor R technology seems to have solved the dRF problem so well that it outperforms modern CCDs. Its acceptable angle of incident light is greatly improved compared to other sensors, making it a true solution for dRFs. The expected announcement date "should be" around mid-2010. The digital ikon will be the first camera to use a full frame Exmor R sensor, before Sony's dSLRs.' Interesting if lens coding is not necessary for this new chip. Marty Posted August 13, 2009 Share #4 Posted August 13, 2009 Lens coding isn't so bad; I still like to know what lens I have used...
lct Posted August 13, 2009 Share #5 Posted August 13, 2009 Lens coding isn't so bad... Provided your Leica lens is codable and you like DIY if it's not a Leica.

adan Posted August 14, 2009 Share #7 Posted August 14, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) At PMA 2007 the Zeiss rep told me that Zeiss didn't think there was a real market for one digital rangefinder, let alone two (the R-D1 being in hiatus at that time, and the M8 still getting rid of its teething troubles). Just not interested. Given that Zeiss has danced with Kyocera, and Cosina with Epson, and Zeiss with Sony, and Zeiss with Cosina...I'd say we're more likely to get a remake of Satyricon from Sony Pictures, than a digital rangefinder.
