Welshkev Posted August 6, 2009 Share #1 Posted August 6, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi guys - This is my first post in this forum (hello everyone). I have recently spent some time in London trying out my Dlux 4. The following are a number of street scenes that were taken with this camera which I have to say is a joy to use. Please feel free to comment. London 2009 - Black and White - a set on Flickr regards WelshKev

andybarton Posted August 6, 2009 Share #3 Posted August 6, 2009 Post them directly in the Photo section (Landscape and Travel). You will get a better response than a click through to Flickr.
farnz Posted August 6, 2009 Share #4 Posted August 6, 2009 Kev, Welcome to the forum! I second Andy's suggestion about posting in the Photo forum. You have some excellent shots there, which show the cameras potential for streetshooting when used skillfully. Which B&W film mode were you using? Pete. Welshkev Posted August 7, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted August 7, 2009 Hi Pete - No Black and white mode used - all images converted to Black and White through Photoshop. regards WelshKev
topoxforddoc Posted August 7, 2009 Share #6 Posted August 7, 2009 Kev, Great series. I particularly like the one in the gallery with the round wire sculpture and the girl entering the frame. Charlie
wda Posted August 7, 2009 Share #7 Posted August 7, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Welshkev, welcome! Your London collection is an interesting portfolio. However, I do wonder why you felt compelled to convert them all to monochrome. Not all are sufficiently strong graphically, in my opinion. I believe they would regain the punch that your colour originals hold. But maybe BW is your over-riding interest.
Welshkev Posted August 7, 2009 Author Share #8 Posted August 7, 2009 Thanks David - Interesting.... These were originally shot for colour for a vivid hyper-real effect I had in mind. This was a new avenue for me as I do not usually shoot "street" photography.I therefore purposefully looked for colourful subject matter at the time these were taken. I posted them on another forum but they were not well received. I did like the effect however, but I think they are a bit too saturated and busy for most tastes - I feel they do however print well. I therefore reverted to black and white to see how the images themselves are recieved. Most people obviously comment on the processing look with the colour images I did. - I can still process them as straight colour of course if I want as all images were shot in RAW originally.
