wizard Posted July 14, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 14, 2009 Well, now that there is no R10, that's about the only way to convert your M8 into a DSLR . Buy 'em while you can ... Andy
luigi bertolotti Posted July 14, 2009 Share #3 Posted July 14, 2009 I admit that it is a rare item... but only for gray finishing, after all (it's a known variant, I seem to remember for police or army... this may be original indeed)... I doubt they find a buyer at that price.

rob_x2004 Posted July 16, 2009 Share #13 Posted July 16, 2009 Out of interest, if full frame is impossible for the M, how come some sort of short extension/correction lens cant be built onto the body to provide clearance? In theory I mean, I dont want to start an "I woudlnt spit on it' debate from the must have M6classic body shape purists.
jaapv Posted July 16, 2009 Author Share #14 Posted July 16, 2009 Because every lens has a different exit angle, so the correction lens would have to be different for each lens.

Barrington Posted July 16, 2009 Share #16 Posted July 16, 2009 When I was working for a photographic company I bought a Viso III for about £30.Maybe I'm rich without knowing it!! Barrington.
jaapv Posted July 17, 2009 Author Share #17 Posted July 17, 2009 Visoflex looks about an inch long, how does that manage different lenses? That is a mechanical thing - like an extension ring, and Visoflex lenses are laid out with a longer register. So there are no optics between the lens and the film (sensor). And before you ask- an extender works through cropping the image - something quite different from changing the register length of a lens by adding an optical system behind it. luigi bertolotti Posted July 17, 2009 Share #18 Posted July 17, 2009 Visoflex looks about an inch long, how does that manage different lenses? There were proper lenses built for usage on the Visoflex, i.e. with a flange to focus plane distance equal to Visoflex length+Leica body : they were tipically the "long" teles 200 280 400 etc, plus some "specials" like the Elmar 65, the Hektor 125 etc. Moreover, some Leitz lenses (90s & 135s) could have the lens group unscrewed from the std. mount, fitted onto some proper adapter, and the combo resulted into a lens to be used on Visoflex for standard usage (i.e. focusing to infinity and nearer distances). Finally, almost any Leica lens could be mounted "as is" on Visoflex, becoming de facto a macro lens, not being able of course to focus to infinity due to Visoflex length. dpstjp Posted July 29, 2009 Share #19 Posted July 29, 2009 Because every lens has a different exit angle, so the correction lens would have to be different for each lens. Given how many different adapters they made for the Visoflex system, I can't see that minor issue holding Leica back, can you? dpstjp
luigi bertolotti Posted July 29, 2009 Share #20 Posted July 29, 2009 Given how many different adapters they made for the Visoflex system, I can't see that minor issue holding Leica back, can you? dpstjp Adapters for Visoflex, even if finely engineered as Leitz did at that times, are simply metal rings, after all (the most "complex" were indeed the focusing rings like OTZFO) . A SET of proper lenses for the prospected usage would be a much different biz... and a mess to manage.
