Michael-IIIf Posted March 18, 2009 Share #23 Posted March 18, 2009 ... and its free! We could convene for the Exhibition at say 11:00AM, then go for a wander along the embankment and through the Inns of Court starting at 12:00AM and aim to get to either the Abbey or the Penderel's Oak at 1PM. People could decide to join at the point that best suits them? Sounds good to me. I'm good for the 25th too. Looking forward to it

biglouis Posted March 19, 2009 Author Share #26 Posted March 19, 2009 Can I just emphasise the point James made about this being an open meeting of all interested members of the forum and that new members are particularly welcome. I was a new member not all that long ago and I can attest to the level of friendship and inclusion that was extended to me and others. So, don't just lurk, come along as well. gravastar Posted March 20, 2009 Share #27 Posted March 20, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hopefully the 25th will be OK. Look forward to meeting everyone again . Oh, and was it Steve who would like to try the Summarex on his IIIF? If you're coming I'll bring the lens. I haven't any 58mm yellow or orange filters for it yet (only UV-IR) but I'll see what I can find since I'd like to start using film again. jcraf Posted April 16, 2009 Share #30 Posted April 16, 2009 I'd like to come too, if I may. Not having met any of you, I guess I'll spot the cameras, or at least the huddle of people with 'bags', at Somerset House. Cheers John

roydonian Posted April 17, 2009 Share #34 Posted April 17, 2009 I've pencilled this into my diary. If our local shambolical rail service is running that day, I'll be there. I'm assuming that if the plan is to reach a watering hole around 1 pm, this is an outing that might end mid-afternoon or so. (Some years ago, I organised an informal Leica get-together in London, and it rapidly drifted from "it's a bit cold for street shooting", to "let's grab a bite to eat", and then to "Where's that decent pub you mentioned?") Best regards, Doug Richardson

roydonian Posted April 17, 2009 Share #36 Posted April 17, 2009 The highlight of the pub session came when someone produced a wide-angle lens he’d created by ripping the lens out of a disposable point & shoot and mounting in on an M body cap with a hole drilled in the middle. As we all tried our hand at using this improvised lens, it broke. Within minutes, we’d scrounged some Sellotape (Scotch tape to our US cousins) and fixed it – a speed record for a lens repair that Solms or Milton Keynes seem likely to recapture. ejd Posted April 21, 2009 Share #38 Posted April 21, 2009 was it Steve who would like to try the Summarex on his IIIF? If you're coming I'll bring the lens. Bob Bob -- it was me. Many thanks for your generous offer. Unfortunately it looks unlikely that I will be able to make it this Saturday. Next time? The weather looks set to be good on Saturday. I'm sure it will be an excellent gathering. All the best, John

gravastar Posted April 23, 2009 Share #40 Posted April 23, 2009 Maybe there wouldn't be enough time for us to fit this in but there's a James Ravilious exhibition on at the National Theatre and it's free.
