Yes

But I realise I made a fundamental error before…it is not on the Baltic but on a Strait connected to the Baltic

Sorry if this has thrown people off 😳
(and feeling foolish having corrected Stuny’s geography!!)

Sorry for the delay - got caught up in the M11 threads then couldn't find my way back here as the site was indexing.

Where are we now?

I guess that this is a military installation on one of the islands in the entrance to Stockholm harbour.

To be more clear although  I used the term “strait” this strait is not the one forming a direct connection to the Baltic. The area is a complicated interface of AFAIK technically (or nautically?) a strait, a sea, another strait and then a sea. But I’m not a sailor so 🤷‍♂️

Hi Larsv

Sorry I didn’t see this before - issue with LUF notifications....

You are right of course, the lovely little Älvsborgs fästning  just out from Gothenburg

Maybe you can help re the “seas”!

AFAIK the fort is technically in the Kattegat (which is a sea) but joins the Skagerrak (which is a strait which joins the North Sea) and the Øresund which is the strait that separates Sweden and Denmark (familiar from Bron/Broen) and joins to the Baltic Sea.
