gdb Posted March 31, 2012 Share #9941 Posted March 31, 2012 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Chapelle et calvaire de Sainte-Marie du Ménez Hom in the western part of the Finistère, one the French departments of Brittany. The hill in the background is the grave of King Marc'h. There is a legend about this king saying that King Marc'h built this chapel to honor Holy Mary. But She stated when he died that he will be forgiven for his sins when his grave is high enough for him to see the bell tower of his chapel... So visitors are told to raise this tumulus higher and higher for the prophecy to be fulfilled... A nice picture anyway ! Jim-St Posted March 31, 2012 Share #9942 Posted March 31, 2012 Not Porspoder, Gary, it is in fact Sainte-Marie du Ménez Hom, the church below the Ménez Hom hill. The church interior is opulently and beautifully decorated with some fine plaster work, glasswork and statuary, and worth a look if you're in that part of Finistère So nice one, Gérard - over to you now... (I think the cyclist kind of made the picture) Jim
