KM-25 Posted January 24, 2007 Share #121 Posted January 24, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Here's the one I found - a bit small for carrying a bunch of film, but great for an interchangeable-lens digital if the lenses are small. Back pocket (love those for plane tickets and paperbacks while enroute), front pocket, about 6 small card-case, battery, or cellphone sized pockets, zippable weatherproof inner liner that rolls back and straps up like a tent flap, nice olivedrab cotton material with bronze fittings. And the snap closures on the main flap are mounted on loops, so I can actually get my finger behind them to apply pressure from both side to snap 'em closed. One can always tear out the NG embroidery if it offends. Almost meets the magic bag spec of being bigger inside than it is outside. When I use a bag, that is the one I use. I only own an M6, 28 cron & 50 lux asph. I have 6 rolls of Kodachrome in the two flap pockets at the ready with 10 more in a zip-loc under my spare lens. The M6 has the other lens on it and there is a third slot for the meter. If I ever get another lens for the M, which I doubt I will, it would fit in the bag fine. The thing I like about this bag is that it is not too bulky, looks different and allows me to get to gear really fast. Just the other day I was skiing with it and hardly knew it was there. But often when I am shooting the Lieca, I wear one of two special coats. I really only need to carry 2-3 rolls of film anyway as I am fairly selective. As for that NGS logo? I like it, I do stuff for NG Adventure anyway and hope to get my project in the yellow mag so what the heck, right? Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

There are just two things I would like to change. First of all, I would prefer it in black, with a different closing system, although the hooks open faster than one might think. Beatuifully made and looking but with one great flaw - the leather flap has velcro and draws too much attention for my tastes. Charles, I have a suggestion for you: obtain velcro (both the 'hook' type and the 'catcher' type) the same size as the velcro on your bag and two strip magnets (like they use on fridges and sell at most hardware stores). Attach (glue?) the underside of one type of velcro to each magnet to make a removable magnetic catch for your bag. The new 'hook' velcro will attach to the 'catcher' velcro on your bag and vice versa and both should hold more strongly than the magnets so the 'assembly' will part silently where the magnets meet. (The magnets are unlikely to have any effect on the articles in the bag because the flux field will be too small.) Now you have your beautiful bag with a silent catch that you can completely remove by simply detaching the new velcro pieces if you ever want to part with your bag. HTH, Pete. I typically carry one or two magazines and a small book, as well as my Moleskine, and my current issue of fotoMagazin is 28cm x 21,5cm, which is too large for the Oskar bag. My bag is 30cm x 23cm, which is enough for a little extra. This is a real shame, because I love the look of the Oskar bag and would have bought one in a heartbeat if it was just a tad larger. I will send them a mail and ask them if they will make a slightly larger version, but I guess they won't be able to. Welcome, dear visitor! I eventually sold the camera but would not let go of the bag! It is dark brown soft leather, beautifully made (the strap actually goes around the bottom of the bag for extra security) with padded velcro inserts to arrange as you wish. It is perfect for one body, two lenses and the Leica SF flash unit. The best part, the whole thing is about 5 inches by 9 inches by 9 inches! Very easy to travel with and quite durable. It opens from the top and the lower front and even locks! It currently houses my M8 with 28mm 2.8 Elmarit-M on the body and the 50mm f2 Summicron IN ITS OWN CASE plus the SF24 flash. There is still room for a spare battery and some memory cards in the zippered storage net in the lid. Everything is very "cozy" but accessable. Each item can be removed without moving any other. Got a GCAM 7200 instead which is just slightly smaller, but perfect for a body and 2 lenses. Have only had it for a week, but the build quality looks fantastic. egibaud Posted January 25, 2007 Share #129 Posted January 25, 2007 I have read all the answers... seen all the links and my question is: In my bag I'll put: 1- M8 body with a lense on (likely 35mm lux) 1- 75mm cron lense 1- short focal lense 24 or 21mm (at a later date) 1- Panasonic FZ30 1- Flash unit 1- cards, spare batteries etc. questions... - what bag who be ok for this without looking like a suitcase? - does any one carry the charger in their bag? - would it be more logical to have 2 bags? And if you get one you should also order an EVA pocket attachment as you willbe surprised how handy it is. It can hold a small Moleskine & a phone or iPod as well as pens etc.. Guest guy_mancuso Posted January 26, 2007 Share #139 Posted January 26, 2007 I'm a bag freak i guess i have both the A&A Image Smith that carries 2 bodies and 6 lenses and also the Oscar On Day which carries One body and 5 lenses stacked or 3 lenses normal for a simple outing. I use them both but on assignment I use the Image Smith mostly. I did like that breifcase style though of the Lowe Pro i think it was for the everything bag but I did get away from that style with the DMR becuase it was too heavy and got a roller . The M system is so much smaller and lighter now may have to look at that again. I just get everything in the Image Smith but a little extra room maybe nice for all the crap. Bags are a very personal choice one size does not fit all. I always buy them new becuase if they don't work i can send it back.
