topoxforddoc Posted January 3, 2009 Share #1 Posted January 3, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) .. and here's the front row! This years RAC Tourist Trophy race at the Goodwood Revival had 24 cars on the grid with a value of £85 million. They were truly raced - three got pranged. Nick Mason (Pink Floyd drummer and motorsport aficianado) raced his Ferrari 250 GTO. When asked by the commentator on the gird whether he was worried about racing such a valuable car - he replied ..' well with a car like this, the repair costs would be insignificant compared to the value of the car...' Advertisement Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Hi topoxforddoc, Take a look here £85 million grid... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
elansprint72 Posted January 3, 2009 Share #2 Posted January 3, 2009 Charlie, looks like a club meeting grid from the 70's to me; all those old bangers. I'm sure the flower beds do not comply with current FIA regs, either. Nice set.

topoxforddoc Posted January 4, 2009 Author Share #8 Posted January 4, 2009 Pete, Stu, Louis and vdb, Thank you very much. This posting was prompted by Pete's posting of 3 GT40s @£10m. Mind you, the GT40s didn't look as if they were going to be raced, thrashed and crashed. This is what I like about Goodwood. These people have Sooo much money that they don't seem to care about crashing, but just care about racing - wonderful! Charlie

Charlie Charlie: calm before the storm- "my" GT40s were in the paddock before Le Mans Classic where they got a damned good work out last year. Please post some more from Goodwood (or anywhere else). Guest flatfour Posted January 5, 2009 Share #11 Posted January 5, 2009 To think that in 1976 when Dennis Healey called in the IMF (the last time Labour drove the British ship onto the financial rocks) I had two brand new drophead E-Types in stock and I couldn't give them away. In the end I sold them for a 30% discount and was glad to see the back of them. How times have changed - or have they ?
