Feininger hatte in dieser Gegend (z.B. Gelmeroda, Weimar, Mellingen usw.) gemalt, und deshalb wurde ihm zu Ehren dieses Kunstwerk geschaffen, welches auch an seinen Malstil erinnern soll.
