john_f Posted December 12, 2008 Share #1 Posted December 12, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) No, it's not a typo ... In case you have not seen this already, Leica has a very unusual lens in their Solms showroom that visitors may try out - an APO-TELYT-R 1600mm f5.6. According to Leica, the lens is worth ... two million US dollars ! And you thought the new Noctilux 0.95 was expensive ... Advertisement Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Hi john_f, Take a look here $ 2,000,000 APO-Telyt Lens !. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
antistatic Posted December 12, 2008 Share #2 Posted December 12, 2008 So that would be a very useful 2400mm on an M8 with an R to M adaptor.
Dan States Posted December 13, 2008 Share #3 Posted December 13, 2008 For that price it should see through women's clothing and be able to predict the future.
ijporter Posted December 13, 2008 Share #4 Posted December 13, 2008 What! No IS / VR for hand holding? That's stopped me from getting one!
adan Posted December 13, 2008 Share #5 Posted December 13, 2008 I hope it has macro-focusing. Looking out that window, about all you'll frame is one bolt on the side of that train.
andybarton Posted December 13, 2008 Share #6 Posted December 13, 2008 Does it come with a replacement spine?

leicanewbie Posted December 14, 2008 Share #9 Posted December 14, 2008 The really disappointing thing is that it is pretty much fixed position on the stand. I visited the Solms factory and also had a look into it. Without the tour bus in the way, what you end up seeing is the chain-link fence in the parking lot. It would have been great it they could have put the thing on a swivel so you can point it to the nearby hill or something to really see what the thing can do. BTW - if you have a chance to visit Solms and take the factory tour - it is very much worth it. Our tour leader - Mr. Karl-Hans Welcker - was really great, informative and really had a passion for the company and it's products. Although I don't agree with his view on "sunshine photographers"

gwelland Posted December 19, 2008 Share #20 Posted December 19, 2008 Now that's what a call a RED DOT. Do you think they'd do an a'la carte version with a hite or black dot? Also, looks like you need 4ft long arms to focus it.
