I am sure this has been asked before - but I couldnt find a link.

I want to mount a viso 3 on my M8

I purchased a viso 3 and 'OUBIO' and a telyt 280mm

what is the name of the converter that I need that goes between the 280 lens and the OUBIO?

Also if I want to mount the front of my 135 on a converter what is the name of that item?

Thanks for your help..

Ron,

The only adaptor that goes between the 280 and the OUBIO (16466) is for close-up work and is the OUFRO (16469). If you're not planning to do close-up work then you won't need it.

You haven't told us which 135 you have so:

The optical cell of the 135 f/4 Tele-elmarit mounts onto a OTRSO (16472) but you'll also need the universal focus mount OTZFO (16464).

The optical cell of the 135 f/2.8 Elmarit mounts onto a 16462 unscaled focussing mount and, if required, a close-up adaptor OEUPO (16474) can be used.

Pete.

VIII + OUBIO + 280 Telyt (assumed to be screw mount) is complete. There is no other converter.

For the 135mm lens head, it depends which 135 it is and where you what to use the OUBIO or not; ie want to be able to use it on VI as well as VIII or not.

The lens is a screw mount Telyt 280 4.8 made in Canada.

I mounted lens on a 16466M and then on the the Viso 3 - and it will not focus, for that reason I thought there was something else I needed.

It appears that I need sometype of adapter shorter than the OUBIO or 16466M.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the photo - looks just like my setup -however I cant get it to focus at any distance? when I remove the OUBIU and reduce the distance between the lens and viso it appears would focus?

Uhm, that's very strange... I cannot imagine a valid explanation... for what I remember, there weren't for instance, additional rings fore close-up that would have caused the behavior you quote.... maybe the mount was machined to fit the lens one some other camera ? I'm curios to know the explanation the dealer will give you...

Here is another thought - Visoflex issue. Is the mirror in a correct position when it is down for viewing? Is the Visoflex focusing screen mounted correctly and shiny side up? For the lens to be out of alignment is just as unlikely as it would be for the Visoflex mirror and/or the screen to be out so, more testing should be done.

Have you tried the M8 and the Visoflex with other lenses?

The best way to check if the mirror and screen are positioned correctly is to mount any lens on the Leica/Visoflex combo, focus it carefully on the Visoflex screen and take a picture (use a tripod). If the resulting picture is in focus, than there is something seriously wrong with your 280mm Telyt. If the picture is not sharp, than most probably the Visoflex needs adjusting - the chance that both the Viso and the Telyt are badly adjusted is pretty slim.

Best,

Jan
