Hi, everyone, I'm new to this forum, may I introduce myself,- the user handle is a combination of the two favourite drum makers that I earned part of my living with, in younger days!. I've just got a mint M2, as a retirement present (to myself!) and allready love it, - after just one roll! - I think it will become a family heirloom!. Next week it goes on holiday to Malta with me, three lenses, and a bundle of Velvia 100,- I'm really looking forward to some good shooting. I've had a couple of screw mount Leicas in the past, but this M2 is 'something else!'.

Regards, Dave, (in rainy Yorkshire!)

Dave!

Where have you been!? :D

It's always good to welcome another M2-user - as Wilfredo says, by all means post when you can, and enjoy Malta!

If Azzo sees this thread I am sure he can give you some better pointers than I, but, Valetta, Medina, Marsaklokk (sp.?) and of course Gozo are all worthy of a visit while you are there. And the buses!

Regards,

Bill

Hi Dave, welcome to the forum. You picked an excellent camera to start with. What lens(es) are you using with it?

Thanks, Steve....er, dare I mention here?...50mm f2 screw Nikkor, VC 35mm Skopar 'Classic', and....gulp! a 85mm Jupiter f2,- bought for a song!, and performing far better than it has any right to!! - saving the pennies for a Summicron now!

Cheers, Dave.

Hello,

I too am very new and have been lurking for a while. I meant to ask a question about posting images.....Is it okay to post scanned images that have been processed in lightroom?

Welcome

Welcome Dave

Welcome morgants

Sure, post 'em in the photo forum; just make sure they're under about 250K in size and generally 750 x 500 dimensions show without too much scrolling involved

Just remember Leica images only unless it's something taken with another brand's product but strongly related to Leica content

Welcome to the forum and especially the film forum. Here is where many seem to end up with older Leica cameras and lens, forgoing just digital and adding film to the mix.

A lot of familiar stories here, I also recently got an M2 and love it, check the size of the "I Love My MP" thread and other "I Love My M---- threads, here you are certainly welcome.

Welcome to you both.

This is a very good place. There are a bunch of very nice people who know huge amounts about photography and Leicas in particular. In addition you can see many very fine pictures in a variety of styles. You can - and should - post photos and learn much from other's comments and suggestions. I certainly have.

Jump in the pool - the water's fine.

Thanks for the warm welcome to the forum gentlemen, - been spending a little time looking through some of the fine work that's posted here, - lots of exellent stuff to aspire to!. Early in the morning I head for Manchester airport, and my week in Malta, it's our first time, and the exitement is rising!. I like to travel light, on holiday - so it's just my 'new' M2 with a 35 and 90, and as it's quite some time since I did any trannies, I have a stash of Velvia 100 for the trip, - just hope it's not affected by xrays!, this stuff is gettng expensive!!. Last time with slides I used Peak Imaging, and had good service and fast turn round, so it will be a nervous wait for the lab. late next week!. My wife will be using her Nikon digicam again, and often - much to my dismay, her point and shoot efforts put my 'considered art' in the shade! :(

Back in nine days! Regards, Dave.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I have tried to post one file in the photo section but was only able to post a link. This evening I will get the processed roll of tmax 3200 from this weekend past. I hope to post something from that as well.

Thanks

You should be okay

My understanding is the slower the speed the better

Definitely don't count on anything going into the hold (which undergoes a more intensive radiologic scan) in your baggage surviving irradiation though

I met this gentleman an hour and a half ago....by pure coincidence!

I noticed an M film camera resting proudly on a man's chest from 30 feet away. I guess he noticed my eyes fixed on his camera as he walked towards me.

"Proper camera" he said. I said, "Yes I know. Mine's inside."

I wanted to introduce him to the Forum but he told me that he had recently signed up and posted on the Film section. And so, I looked it up.

Even for only a short while, it was a pleasure meeting you Dave.

Welcome to Malta and to the Forum.

There is some great photography to be had at Medina. At night the atmosphere is wonderful.
