andybarton Posted October 2, 2006 Share #141 Posted October 2, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ok, I can now confirm the reservation for 15 persons at Chez Edouard. I'll need a final count to call them and warn them if we are less. Right now, I have 11 confirmations. The price will be 30€ per person, including wine, water, and coffee and a 2 choices for each course. Main course will be either Salmon or Duck. Good work, Pascal. That sounds like an excellent deal, to me. However, are they aware of how much wine we/they/you drink?

stunsworth Posted October 2, 2006 Author Share #142 Posted October 2, 2006 Good work, Pascal. That sounds like an excellent deal, to me. However, are they aware of how much wine we/they/you drink? Perhaps they don't realise that there will be rosbifs present ;-)
earleygallery Posted October 2, 2006 Share #143 Posted October 2, 2006 Oh no, it might be another dull wet day for the One Challenge! Surely not.......
pascal_meheut Posted October 2, 2006 Share #144 Posted October 2, 2006 Unless we are lucky, you can expect a London-like weather where the sky will be gentleman enough not to display vivid colors.
stunsworth Posted October 2, 2006 Author Share #145 Posted October 2, 2006 Overcast is good - no deep shadows to worry about - as long as there's more light than on the last two occasions ;-)
pascal_meheut Posted October 2, 2006 Share #146 Posted October 2, 2006 Overcast is an euphemism. I just shot a picture outside and metering gave me 1/100 f/3.5 for 100 ISO.

pascal_meheut Posted October 2, 2006 Share #151 Posted October 2, 2006 However, are they aware of how much wine we/they/you drink? The deal is 1 bottle for 4 persons. However, you can order some extra if you pay for it. If you want to please your french hosts, a few bottles of Romanee Conti are a good idea. You can buy them easily very close from the restaurant at the Hediard or Fauchon shops Place de la Madeleine or even at Galeries Lafayette Gourmet. Thanks in advance and I'll let choose the years, I'm not peculiar.
andybarton Posted October 2, 2006 Share #152 Posted October 2, 2006 Would a Leoville - Barton do? (Not that I am necessarily offering...)
pascal_meheut Posted October 2, 2006 Share #153 Posted October 2, 2006 Would a Leoville - Barton do? (Not that I am necessarily offering...) If you cannot do any better, it will do. Other obvious choices are Yquem, Haut-Brion, Lafitte as I'm not a Petrus fan.
JHAG Posted October 2, 2006 Share #154 Posted October 2, 2006 Would a Leoville - Barton do? (Not that I am necessarily offering...) Which year, Baron Barton ?
andybarton Posted October 2, 2006 Share #155 Posted October 2, 2006 Which year, Baron Barton ? An '82 would do nicely (but has probably gone over, now), or an '89 maybe. Yes, a well kept '89.
JHAG Posted October 2, 2006 Share #156 Posted October 2, 2006 Well, a few years ago, I bought on auction 6 bottles of '59 which had not gone over for a bit.
Overgaard Posted October 2, 2006 Share #157 Posted October 2, 2006 Lars Winther will be bumping out I'm sorry to say. He has stuff to do. For my part I'm a bit shaky but still hope to make it even I won't have the pleasure of directing Lars through the parisian traffic ... in his car. I bumped the London one last year so I would like not to make that a habit. Starting to wonder wheter Paris is a 35mm town or a 80mm. Or maybe 50mm... (21mm would be to complicated to look at I think).
pascal_meheut Posted October 3, 2006 Share #158 Posted October 3, 2006 BTW, can anyone here explain to me how to post an image here? I've tried to attach one but it does not display and I would like to post a map.
JHAG Posted October 3, 2006 Share #159 Posted October 3, 2006 Pascal, You click on Reply or New Thread. Next, bottom of page you click on Manage Attachments. A pop-up windows appears where you have a few Browses fields. You choose Open on the picture of your choise in your Hard Drive. It must have the suffix .jpg or .jpeg, or.pdf, or .gif or .png attached to it (if not, you type it after the name of the pic in the ad hoc field — on Mac, you confirm you want this or that suffix). Then, you Upload. After a while, your pic appears in red in the same pop-up window. You may now close it by clicking on Save this Window (bottom of the pop-up). Finally, you click Submit Reply. Et voili-voilà… Best Johan
andybarton Posted October 3, 2006 Share #160 Posted October 3, 2006 It can also be done via the paper-clip icon in the row of buttons just above where you type the response.
