Advertisement Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 Hi ammitsboel, Take a look here The new M8 - 2.0 Firmware is online. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wparsonsgisnet Posted September 18, 2008 Share #162 Posted September 18, 2008 Repeating my request from earlier -- has anyone run images generated with the new firmware thru C1? Using raw, and the profiles from Phase One, are the colors the same? Thanks,
stunsworth Posted September 18, 2008 Share #163 Posted September 18, 2008 Quick and dirty test. ISO 2500 1/30th at f2. Summicron ASPH Summicron. Full frame, then detail at 100%. Absolutely no processing in either frame - WB, levels or noise reduction. Welcome, dear visitor! wlaidlaw Posted September 18, 2008 Share #164 Posted September 18, 2008 It looks to me as if the change down point for Auto ISO is 1/60th of a second. If the auto shutter speed drops below this, it ups the ISO. Do others agree? I would prefer quick-alter ISO on the arrows, but in its absence, maybe for technical/hardware reasons, this is a useful second best for many circumstances. BobDyl Posted September 18, 2008 Share #167 Posted September 18, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) It's in the "slowest speed" submenu. I understand that the slowest speed is the trigger to move to the highest ISO, but what does it mean to have the slowest speed lens dependent? Thanks! Wilson Wilson: The shift of the iso is dependant on how you set it in the menu. There is an option for lens dependant, or you can pick a shutter speed at which it shifts the ISO. You can also pick th emax ISO it will shift too. For example, lens dependant would be a good general shooting, while in low light you might want to pick a lower shutter speed as the shift point. If you are shooting moving stuff, you might want to set the shift point to a higher shutter speed. Robert
ammitsboel Posted September 18, 2008 Share #169 Posted September 18, 2008 It looks a little yellow Robert Yes, and the colors are too "light" like the depth of the colors are limited, but I've seen this with the old firmware as well. C1?

I would prefer quick-alter ISO on the arrows, but in its absence, maybe for technical/hardware reasons, this is a useful second best for many circumstances. Wilson Wilson after you set the camera to Auto ISO in the SET Menu you then go into the normal menu and you can set the shutter speed to anything from 1/8 to 1/125 or Lens dependent. If it's set to Lens dependent I couldn't get it to go any lower then 1/90 with a 50 Lux on the camera. I didn't try it with any other lenses. Could be that Leica threw out the old rule of one stop faster then the lens mm taking into account that a 50 on the M8 is really a 67mm lens. So 1/90 would be one stop faster. stunsworth Posted September 18, 2008 Share #173 Posted September 18, 2008 It looks a little yellow Agreed, but the lower half of the wallpaper _was_ yellow, which may have influenced things - the radiator is white. Also the light was from one of those low energy bulbs and that too may have had an effect. As I say, I didn't try to correct the white balance or levels. Overall I'm impressed. wparsonsgisnet Posted September 18, 2008 Share #174 Posted September 18, 2008 Steve, what is the lighting for this shot? Philippe D. Posted September 18, 2008 Share #176 Posted September 18, 2008 Hello Wilson, I would prefer quick-alter ISO on the arrows Now we are two (at least). Let's say, up-down = EV, left-right = ISO or conversely. But Solms, let's do it by hand, pliiiiiz!
wlaidlaw Posted September 18, 2008 Share #177 Posted September 18, 2008 Wilson after you set the camera to Auto ISO in the SET Menu you then go into the normal menu and you can set the shutter speed to anything from 1/8 to 1/125 or Lens dependent. Sorry, I should have qualified my post by saying that I was on lens dependent and had a 35 ASPH Lux fitted. As you say if you fit a 50 Lux, the change down point goes up to 1/90th - all in all pretty sensible. I presume it will go up to 1/125 with a 75 etc etc. Now in bed so too lazy to get up and go and get a 75 or 90 from the other end of the house. StS Posted September 18, 2008 Share #178 Posted September 18, 2008 I can't explain how this could be done by just a firmware change, however 2500ASA was almost unuseable before... The worst texture seems to be the JPEG compression. Just selected this motive to make you envious Welcome, dear visitor!
