erl Posted September 11, 2008 Share #3 Posted September 11, 2008 Total garbage news article as presented. Images like the one posted can be taken by any lens. Clearly the writer has very little knowledge or experince with photography outside magazine articles. I would have posted a response on the site but it declares that all comments will be censored, so no point telling them of their ignorance. OTOH, the new lens will be a good lens, probably, but not for the reasons given in that article. Incidentally, I have the current Noctilux and it is a geat lens in specfic circumstances, but not as a general purpose lens. I expect there will be no reason to 'upgrade' to the new version, expecially in light of the expected price tag.
barjohn Posted September 11, 2008 Share #4 Posted September 11, 2008 If you can achieve better low light capability with a sensor capable of higher ISO with low noise for far less than $11K, what is the point. A Sumilux with a better sensor would be lighter, more compact and more capable. New high performance electronics module with new sensor $3K, New F1.4 lens $3,6K; in other words for virtually half the price I can get more than twice the performance. This type of lens only made sense with film that was not capable of such high ISOs as today's digital.
caparobertsan Posted September 11, 2008 Share #5 Posted September 11, 2008 They got spec right. 0.95!
thai.charlie Posted September 11, 2008 Share #6 Posted September 11, 2008 As with the f1 Noctilux, it's not about the exposure. Yes, with higher ASA possible with film and digital, one can use f1.4 glass, f2 glass, etc., to make one's low light exposure. Those who have and use the Noctilux generally shoot it wide open and like what it produces wide open. I put ND filters on it to shoot it wide open in not so dark situations. With the new Noctilux, it's all about how it renders at 0.95 (which I've yet to see samples). And if you are willing to buy it.
jsjxyz Posted September 11, 2008 Share #7 Posted September 11, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) from the picture I doubt it is true, the filter size stated E60 but it doesn't look like as wide as current 1.0 noctilux. It is too little.

nugat Posted September 11, 2008 Share #10 Posted September 11, 2008 11k is Nikon 700 PLUS Sony 900 plus several v good lens (nikkor, zeiss...). With their usable ISO and image stabilization their advantage in night shooting will be of several stops over noctliux. But ten there is of course the immeasurable "character". Bigfeet Even at the current exchange rate, 11,000 dollars would be a lot of fun to have in the bag. But not in that form, please. lct Posted September 11, 2008 Share #13 Posted September 11, 2008 Is this also a picture of the M8.2 with black logo and hotshoe... This would be the so-called 'M8.2' according to Chasseur d'Images. Black logo for black bodies apparently. I don't know if silver ones will keep the red dot though. Why not a hotshoe BTW?

cbretteville Posted September 11, 2008 Share #16 Posted September 11, 2008 Is this also a picture of the M8.2 with black logo and hotshoe?/quote] Yes, it matches the camera shown in images from one of the Norwegian sites that leaked the M8.2 info last week.
