Marquinius Posted May 26, 2008 Share #4 Posted May 26, 2008 And the thing is you don't really need a roll bar ... it will not roll (and if it does you can lift it up with just a couple of guys helping). Had one, long time ago. Big grin on my face right now. Marco
topoxforddoc Posted May 26, 2008 Share #5 Posted May 26, 2008 Pete, That must be Jeremy Clarkson in the Gulf Oil car! I gather he sent his GT40 back to Ford. they probably gave this to him in return!! Charlie
stuny Posted May 26, 2008 Share #6 Posted May 26, 2008 Pete - Very amusing. A friend who races a Challenge Ferrari, and has (not counting the race car) his 3rd and 4th Ferraris (with a 430 on order), recently bought a 2CV at the urgings of his French girlfriend. I'll have to send him a copy of this image.
stuny Posted May 28, 2008 Share #7 Posted May 28, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Pete - My friend (see my note above) got a good laugh out of my sending him a copy of your image with the note, "I see you've graduated to real racing and gotten Gulf sponsorship" (Hhs 2CV is light blue). He also responded that he was flying out to France today and plans to see a 2CV race. He also just ordered a Smart car.
elansprint72 Posted May 28, 2008 Author Share #8 Posted May 28, 2008 Stuart, "Race" is just what these guys did, the speed might have been slightly less than the 250cc Supercarts (160mph vmax) on the same day but the 2CV racing was excellent. Is the SMART on sale in the US?
stuny Posted May 28, 2008 Share #9 Posted May 28, 2008 Pete - The Smart (4-2) finally came here about two months ago, but I've only seen one on the road so far.
