fotografr Posted September 15, 2006 Share #3 Posted September 15, 2006 Hard to be discreet with the 5D. Very nice shot, great tones. Don't you ever use your M and nocti for this kind of shooting anymore?
Guest imported_stefan_r Posted September 15, 2006 Share #4 Posted September 15, 2006 what is the idea behind? portrait, street?
stunsworth Posted September 15, 2006 Author Share #5 Posted September 15, 2006 Brent, haven't used a roll of film this year - mainly due to the lack of spare time. Roll on the M8! Stefan, street, portrait? Just trying to make an interesting image. The labels don't interest me that much. If people like it, that's fine. If they don't like it, that's fine too. I only post things that interest me, perhaps it's vanity publishing :-)
MrEd Posted September 16, 2006 Share #6 Posted September 16, 2006 Vanity publishing indeed! :) Great shot. Thanks for sharing. Ed. .
Guest imported_stefan_r Posted September 16, 2006 Share #7 Posted September 16, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) why it is a great shot? I would like to understand... Steve, try to tell a story, show a "moment"... here (to me) is nothing happening. regards Stefan
albertwang Posted September 16, 2006 Share #8 Posted September 16, 2006 But isn't doing nothing actually something? (Zen koan)
Guest imported_stefan_r Posted September 16, 2006 Share #9 Posted September 16, 2006 But isn't doing nothing actually something? (Zen koan) if you are happy with it everything is fine... my intention is to understand, to develop, to learn, to get better, crap goes to the garbage can (the picture above is not crap). Michael-IIIf Posted September 16, 2006 Share #10 Posted September 16, 2006 Steve, I like it, the three figures walking in the same direction gives a feeling of movement, the composition and tonality are pleasing, and the lads looking at the photographer creates tension. If this wasn't France, if it was the UK, I'd say the photographer got thumped shortly after releasing the shutter. Michael
fotografr Posted September 16, 2006 Share #11 Posted September 16, 2006 Nothing happening??? Look at the textures in the buildings, the patchwork in the street, the people walking. Where are they going? Are they gay? Straight? Who cares? Why are they looking at the photographer and what are they thinking about being photographed? Yeah, right. Nothing happening. If you look for nothing, you find nothing.
gverdon Posted September 16, 2006 Share #12 Posted September 16, 2006 Agree with Brent on this one: a lot of things happening in there... The third person, coming from nowhere, adds a lot of tension (for my eye)... Nothing happening? Well, one could say that about almost every photograph if one examin it with a cold eye...
