R10dreamer Posted March 30, 2008 Share #1 Posted March 30, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yes or no, is Leica going to make the R10 or an all digital camera that will be what we have discussed as being an R10 these last two years. I just want the general consensus on whether or not people in here think it WILL happen.

lct Posted March 30, 2008 Share #8 Posted March 30, 2008 According to Andreas Kaufman: ...You can be assured that to us it´s very clear what’s going to happen with regard to the topic SLR. We´re developing a solution which we will present to the public.... This fall in Cologne you will be able to get a clue...
leicapages Posted March 30, 2008 Share #9 Posted March 30, 2008 Well a "clue" may not be good enough. Almost two years after the demise of the DMR current R users who would like to go digital actually would like to be able to BUY a successor solution... obviously with full compatibility towards existing R lenses thus protecting the biggest investment R users have made over the years. rsolomon Posted March 30, 2008 Share #10 Posted March 30, 2008 Yes, ofcourse and R10.....and i would bet an R11 one day to. however the R10 might not what you exepect -- remember things can't get better unless you're willing to change ...... ofcourse they can get worse to..... Iron Flatline Posted March 30, 2008 Share #11 Posted March 30, 2008 Yes. Why would a company with a small customer base dismiss or reject a large group of existing owners who would probably want to upgrade?
wattsy Posted March 30, 2008 Share #12 Posted March 30, 2008 Why would a company with a small customer base dismiss or reject a large group of existing owners who would probably want to upgrade? Being unable to see how it could turn a worthwhile profit from those owners might be one good reason not to continue with the 'R10' project. That said, doesn't the recently published interview with Kaufmann pretty much confirm that there will be something new for R users later this year? R10dreamer Posted March 31, 2008 Author Share #13 Posted March 31, 2008 Well R members aren't typically young and aren't getting any younger (me included). How long can they really wait? Announce this fall but release when? 2009? 2010? Later? Without getting into marketing and secrecy issues I think it would be much smarter for Leica to give us a timeline. I love my DMR and respect the quality it gives me but Leica and SLR are becoming "cart and horse" to the camera world.
