Best camera with best viewfinder Leica ever made, period!

Agree completely. I got one in late 2023 and it has pretty much spoiled the M10 experience for me. I don’t mind the M10 35/135 framelines much, but the 50/75 now looks ridiculous. So bright and thick and distracting compared to the simplicity and clarity of the M2.

Agreed. To be specific, the best 35mm lens experience ever, unless you include the 0.58 MP, which has the equally sublime unaccompanied 35mm framelines.

Yes, I even had a M2 fitted with the 0.58 RF unit but the M2 and M-A uncluttered and uncut framelines had my preference in the end .

As a confirmed 35mm FL person I have gathered over the years a M7, 2x MP's and a M6TTL all with .58 VF's........If you don't own a M2 and 35mm is your preferred FL then you owe it to your eye to use a .58 VF. Just the eye relief around the 35mm framelines is worth the price of admission.

I think I've shot with all the M film cameras except the M5.  The M2 remains my favorite, especially the button-rewind version.   Some days I think about trading one of them for the M-A, which I regret selling a couple of years ago, but I probably won't.

A friend of mine is an award winning photojournalist and NATGEO freelancer (Check out Olson/Farlow website).  His wife is my oldest friend and I taught her how to develop film back at Indiana University when we were both journalism majors in the early 1970's.  I ended up as a pilot but she ended up at NATGEO as freelancer.

Randy and I  used to joke about his kit for after the EMP goes off and all electronic gear will be fried.  He told me it was two M2's with the classic 35/50/90 combo of lenses and a thousand rolls of TriX.  Cannot think of a better endorsement!

I agree, though not as a M2 owner, but as a user of older cameras. I am not a collector, nor am I into the minutiae of Leica history and products. The obvious arrangement would be to have a separate M1-M7 section within the main M subforum.

For similar reasons, there should be a section for the Barnacks and their users i.e. not collectors. Perhaps rename the Leica Collectors & Historica subforum as 'Older Leicas' or similar, then divide it into 'Collectors' and 'Users' sections. When I started looking at buying a Barnack for use I couldn't immediately tell where to look for practical advice.

Edit: I have posted in the 'About the Leica Forum' section about the anomaly of 'Leica Collectors and Historica' being used as a bucket for posts about using all older Leicas

Out of the 106922 current members of the forum only 6 screw thread camera users entered the latest Barnack Challenge ! How many "collectors" are actual "users"?

Returned my last M2 due to the aging shutter (the second curtain gets laggy if you have advanced and let it sit for a while). Found a nice deal of an M2-S on eBay and got it! The serial number is within the range of M2-S and ends with 00 prettily. The appearance condition is much better than my last M2, and the shutter curtains have been replaced claimed by the dealer. Gotta run through a roll on it today!
