Elephants are remarkably social and tender, caring for one another, and frequently making gentle physical contact. These three photos are in the deserts of Namibia, where the elephants know that knocking down trees will destroy their food source. Unlike their relatives in less arid areas, they do not knock down trees, but just strip leaves and small branches to eat. As you might have guessed, desert adapted elephants are smaller than their wetter-lands cousins. The Namibia and Botswana photo galleries on our site are filled with elephant pictures.
