Nick De Marco Posted March 6, 2008 Share #1 Posted March 6, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Firstly greetings and salutations. Secondly, I saw an old thread about a London Leica users' meeting. Any plans for another one? Thirdly, I am interested in joining the Camera Club in Kennington. Anyone here a member/ex-member; have any positive/negative experiences? And finally, if any of you know any other good clubs in London, or courses where you can use your Leica (Especially as I now have the M8 as well a various film cameras) please let me know Thanks for reading Nick Nick De Marco's Photo Galleries at pbase.com

andybarton Posted March 6, 2008 Share #2 Posted March 6, 2008 Nick Organise it (with plenty of notice) and they will come... Set something up in the meetings section. Parliament Square anyone?
spylaw4 Posted March 6, 2008 Share #3 Posted March 6, 2008 Louis and I were (are? Louis, are you listening?) intending to hold another get together sometime in June/early July in the East End somewhere. Keep your eye on the Meetings Forum. Of course, always glad to have someone else do the dirty work!
Nick De Marco Posted March 6, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted March 6, 2008 I would be delighted to help you organise. East End is great. But please avoid 25 June - 7 July as i will be in Cuba
farnz Posted March 6, 2008 Share #5 Posted March 6, 2008 I'm up for a meet whenever. I realise that it's probably too soon but the East London Festival runs from 6th to 11th March. East London Festival – East London Cultural Festival Pete.

Nick De Marco Posted March 7, 2008 Author Share #8 Posted March 7, 2008 Sorry - had not noticed there was a meetings forum until now. I think the March dates are a bit too early. May would be god though. In previous years they have had festivals at Brick Lane on=in may I am not sure if they are doing so this year but I will try to find out. can I ask if last time you guys met in London it was during the weekend and if weekend dates are generally preferred (I assume they are)? Also, nobody has yet replied about the Camera Club, is there really nobody here who knows about it?
biglouis Posted March 8, 2008 Share #9 Posted March 8, 2008 Louis and I were (are? Louis, are you listening?) intending to hold another get together sometime in June/early July in the East End somewhere. Keep your eye on the Meetings Forum.Of course, always glad to have someone else do the dirty work! Brian Definitely listening - just agree a date. I'd recommend starting at the Blind Beggar on Whitechapel High Street and then walking back towards the City for a possible tour up and down Brick Lane. The possibilities are endless around that area, that's the only problem, imho. Louis
spylaw4 Posted March 8, 2008 Share #10 Posted March 8, 2008 Excellent - all armed with our papers to prove we are not terrorists of course! I"m thinking of a Saturday in late June/early July, but we could always hold it a month earlier around but not on the late May bank holiday?
Nick De Marco Posted March 9, 2008 Author Share #11 Posted March 9, 2008 May would be best.. and I agree with the walk schedule. in fact I can bring along one other sometime Leica user who would like that plan (I think) Still nobody have knowledge of this Camera Club? ejd Posted March 9, 2008 Share #12 Posted March 9, 2008 I'll be very happy to join your gathering in May (or whenever it takes place) if I'm able to. I do not know much about the Camera Club in Kennington, except that Amateur Photographer magazine has used it (If I recall correctly) for one or more exhibitions in the recent past. I have only heard positive things about it. Rgds, John
Nick De Marco Posted March 9, 2008 Author Share #13 Posted March 9, 2008 Thanks John I will check it out sometime. Let's all agree a day in May then
topoxforddoc Posted March 10, 2008 Share #14 Posted March 10, 2008 I'll try and come too, if I'm not busy elsewhere watching rugby As a Gloucester season ticket holder, I might be in Cardiff and London on the last two weekends in may! OK, fat chance, but here's hoping. Charlie
Nick De Marco Posted March 10, 2008 Author Share #15 Posted March 10, 2008 As an avid QPR fan I was worried about the possibility of a Play off final, but at least no worried about that now. So May t is?
stumac Posted March 11, 2008 Share #16 Posted March 11, 2008 I will be in London 21-26 June and 11-14 August, would love to meet. Regards, Stuart
spylaw4 Posted March 11, 2008 Share #17 Posted March 11, 2008 One thing is certain - we can't please all of the people any of the time! The Spring Bank Holiday is Monday 26th - so we had better steer clear of that. The 31st might be possible if the majority want a May date, although I suppose that the 17th would also be feasible. Otherwise (and speaking personally) I would suggest 14 June. Ideally a poll would be good but maybe the best thing is for potential attendees to indicate which of those 3 dates they favour and I'll keep a tally. Nick De Marco Posted March 11, 2008 Author Share #18 Posted March 11, 2008 I vote 31 May has a good ring about it
Nick De Marco Posted March 11, 2008 Author Share #19 Posted March 11, 2008 Apologies. Scrub that. I had not read Brian's post properly (or indeed realised he was "the" Brian). Embaressed apologies. Let's all say 14 June. Gives us ages to plan for a good day. Agreed?
biglouis Posted March 11, 2008 Share #20 Posted March 11, 2008 31 May or 14 June are equally good for me. Brian, you need to make an executive decision :-) Louis
