I have a couple of ads in the buy and sell section, and today I had the usual Nigeria scam soliciting name, bank account details for transfers etc, information which no doubt could be abused later.

 

Unless one is accustomed to such e-mails there is always a danger one will fall for this - so take care!

Are you sure the two events are linked? Are you using a unique email address just for the B&S section?

 

I get lots of Nigerian scam emails, plus other life-enhancing offers, I'm afraid. Not much you can do about it, apart from filter them all out and don't answer them.

Yes, I am sure because the item for sale (WATE) was listed in the e-mail and this is the only place where it is advertised.

Yes, but only a few moments ago. The scam mail arrived this morning and there was also a link to the classifieds section. I deleted the mail, which I perhaps should not have done.

Well, the link-back settles it as far as origin is concerned.

Guess you can mine the board's RSS feeds if you want to. Don't think you have to authenticate to the server to get the feeds. How they get from the raw RSS feed to your email address I don't know.
