pascal_meheut Posted September 3, 2006 Share #2 Posted September 3, 2006 Leica M8 numérique, la résurrection ? - Blog Lightmediation to get direct access to the video. Nothing to be seen really because of the resolution but the sound is interesting.
olaff Posted September 3, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted September 3, 2006 it´s very nice, isn´t it? without lettering on the front...
erl Posted September 3, 2006 Share #4 Posted September 3, 2006 The image I saw had " M8 Digital" on it. IF this is genuine, it doesn't look particularly ergonomic. Of course M cameras are not renowned for for their ergonomics, but I sort of hoped this one would go a step further in that direction. The apparent lack of wind lever for thumb balance would present a unique problem for many M users such as me. All is yet to be revealed.
Guest agnoo Posted September 3, 2006 Share #5 Posted September 3, 2006 The camera i saw, had a lettering like this: "I´m am the new digital rangefinder camera from Leica, Solms, Germany and i will give you fully satisfaction!" Later they plan the "a la carte"-version, which offers an included owners name like: "I am the new digital rangefinder camera from Leica, Solms, Germany and i will fully satisfy my proud owner Henry XYZ. ...." vic vic Posted September 3, 2006 Share #6 Posted September 3, 2006 ah thats really informative ron :-))) i will take the le0carte one but with writting "... proud owner xyz", maybe only "xy", but without the "henry". u know - henry is too much, hes an old guy who belonged to leicas without "la-catre" :-))))
pascal_meheut Posted September 3, 2006 Share #7 Posted September 3, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) No, the image on the first link is the usual fake and it is said so in the article. But there is a link to a video supposedly shot at a Leica press presentation of the M8.
mat_mcdermott Posted September 3, 2006 Share #8 Posted September 3, 2006 ... Of course M cameras are not renowned for for their ergonomics ... I personally love the ergonomics of the M line. In fact it feels much better in my hand than many other cameras with all their grips, bumps, etc. From that clip, I don't understand how anyone could judge the camera's ergonomics in the first place. It does look a bit more square than a film M, but with all that pixelation even that is reading the tea leaves. The only thing is clear is the sound. Guest agnoo Posted September 3, 2006 Share #9 Posted September 3, 2006 It´s an M and WILL BE an M further on. All these "totally different size - like an M5"-idots are wrong. You´ll see.
albertwang Posted September 3, 2006 Share #10 Posted September 3, 2006 I'm gonna wait out to see the real thing in 2 weeks. Rumors are fun but they don't tell me much anymore.

earleygallery Posted September 3, 2006 Share #12 Posted September 3, 2006 Can't people have a little surprise left in their lives? Why the need for all of this pointless speculation and fake photo's of the new camera? Some have far too much time on their hands. Just be patient and enjoy the thrill of seeing the real thing when its launched in a couple of weeks.
sinwen Posted September 3, 2006 Share #13 Posted September 3, 2006 .... we are kids at all levels I believe....digging into the cupboard to find the Christmas present before time and try to guess what it could be.... refreshing attitude in fact. nealf Posted September 4, 2006 Share #14 Posted September 4, 2006 .... we are kids at all levels I believe....digging into the cupboard to find the Christmas present before time and try to guess what it could be.... refreshing attitude in fact. Having seen the picture of the M8 that was released to dealers and being sworn to secracy, all that I can tell you is that the real picture has been posted somewhere on the forum. Several other new Leica digitals have also been posted including the D3, you'll have to decide which are the real ones..
lambroving Posted September 4, 2006 Share #15 Posted September 4, 2006 It´s an M and WILL BE an M further on. All these "totally different size - like an M5"-idots are wrong. You´ll see. Ron, And what exactly is wrong with my M5?!
ejd Posted September 4, 2006 Share #16 Posted September 4, 2006 However big or small the M8 is, I hope it will be able to fit a Visoflex.

lct Posted September 4, 2006 Share #18 Posted September 4, 2006 ...Why the need for all of this pointless speculation and fake photo's of the new camera?... Because we like that perhaps.
Philippe D. Posted September 4, 2006 Share #19 Posted September 4, 2006 Hi! Can't people have a little surprise left in their lives? Why the need for all of this pointless speculation and fake photo's of the new camera? It's like father Christmas... speculations are the best enjoyable time before we get the surprise. In 8 or 9 days from now, we will know what's in the basket. Then is the fun finished and serious matter begin: Do we, or do we not ?
marknorton Posted September 4, 2006 Share #20 Posted September 4, 2006 We do, but like a kid looking at the picture on the lid of the model-railway box through the toy shop window, the reality of opening the box and seeing what's actually inside can be a bit of a let-down. Sometimes, the realities do not live up to the expectations. I certainly hope the M8 lives up to the (reasonable) expectations we have of it. If the sound bites are anything to go by, it's not going to be M7 whisper-quiet. Maybe we needed that wind-on lever after all.
